Among Us is a social deduction party game inspired by Werewolf, and now players have found a creative way to combine the two games into one with a new mod. While the Among Us community waits eagerly for new content like the airship map and upcoming updates, popular creators and streamers have found new ways to play using mods. Many of the most popular mods either introduce roles, like Jester or Sheriff, for crewmates to fulfill, or add new abilities for Impostors, like the Slender Man Mode mod. One famous creator, SSundee, revealed a new mod that makes the Impostor a werewolf. This appears to be a nod to the original Werewolf party game, where players are all assigned various roles in a town plagued by a werewolf and must deduce who is responsible and vote to hang them.

The Werewolf Mod for Among Us grants the Impostor the ability to turn into a werewolf. This transformation automatically turns off the lights and decreases vision for everyone except the Werewolf, and it will also allow the Werewolf Impostor to see crewmates' locations on the minimap. However, this transformation does not last forever and, like the regular Kill button, has a lengthy cooldown. With so dangerous and overpowered a creature on the loose, crewmates will need to be all the quicker to deduce who is responsible and vote to eject them before it's too late. Here's how to play the Werewolf mod in Among Us.

At the time of writing, the only people who have access to the Werewolf mod are SSundee and his friends. There has not yet been a public file released for other players to download to their game. However, because it is still very new, there is always a chance talented modders will create their own version of the idea that can be shared with other fans later.

With this mod installed, an Impostor will also gain the ability to become a werewolf. This gives them a Transform button on the left side of the screen in addition to the Kill and Sabotage buttons. Every thirty seconds, the player can choose to transform into a werewolf. This will shut all the lights, lower vision for all crewmates, and increase the Werewolf Impostor's vision and movement speed. Werewolf Impostors also have the ability to find every crewmate's location on the minimap, even without their Transform ability active. This allows the Werewolf Impostor to stalk a crewmate, find them, trap them, use the kill button to eliminate them, and flee the scene without being detected. Once the effect wears off, there is a cooldown period where the Impostor will not be able to transform.

The object of the game remains the same. Crewmates need to complete all their tasks or find and vote out the Werewolf to win, and the Werewolf must kill every crewmate to win. Werewolf Impostors can still vent and still have the ability to sabotage as they normally would. Because it will be hard for crewmates to see, it is also possible and a good idea for the Werewolf Impostor to frame other crewmates and keep suspicion off themselves. This is the exact strategy SSundee uses when he becomes the Werewolf Impostor, and it works very well.

This mode greatly favors the Impostor, and it is significantly more difficult for crewmates to win due to the Werewolf's unique abilities. Players can see this mod in a real game by checking out SSundee's video below:

The mod works fairly well with the Proximity Voice Chat mod installed, as players can see in SSundee's video. This way, players can only hear one another when in close proximity, which will allow the Werewolf Impostor to cut off anyone they are trying to kill and prevent them from being heard before they are eliminated.
