Mods have become a staple in the Among Us community and, though the new Airship Map has only been out for a few days, talented programmers have already begun creating mods especially for the new setting. The Airship is Among Us' first major content update since the game became a surprise hit during the pandemic. The map is massive, including 18 rooms, nine of which have never existed before, and new tasks for crewmates and sabotages for Impostors. Many players and even some prominent streamers complain the map may be too massive, which can pose challenges to both crewmates and Impostors. For crewmates, it may be difficult to fix sabotages or to stay with a group while completing tasks to avoid being picked off by an Impostor. For Impostors, it may be difficult to find crewmates to kill.

Popular streamer and content creator SSundee and his friends recognized this problem and had an opportunity to address it with a mod that allows the Impostor to kill from any distance: the Infinite Kill Range Mod. When the Impostor hits the Kill button with this mod installed, they are teleported to a random, nearby crewmate, who they then kill. This mod can increase the challenge for crewmates while solving some of the problems caused by such a large space. Here's how to play the Infinite Kill Range Mod in Among Us.

How to Play the Infinite Kill Range Impostor Mod in Among Us

The Among Us Infinite Kill Range Mod was programmed by @LoafX and @LooKuM / MRE for SSundee and his friends and is currently not available for public download. Players may have luck getting into a game that uses this mod by joining a server that has it installed. It is also possible that, given its popularity, other modders will eventually program a version of this mod and make it available for wider use.

When using the Infinite Kill Range Mod, Impostors will no longer have the Kill button blocked out when they are not near a crewmate. They can click the button from anywhere on the map to be teleported to the nearest crewmate, who they then automatically kill. All the same cooldowns will apply, but the Impostor does not need to be anywhere close to a crewmate to make the kill. They will, however, still appear in the same spot as the crewmate's body once the kill has been executed, so it is still possible to be seen by a crewmate entering a room.

This is a risky move, especially if an Impostor does not check the surrounding areas before hitting the Kill button. It is always possible another crewmate could be completing a task nearby. One strategy Impostors might use involves sabotaging lights first. Once the lights dim all the way, the Impostor can hit the button, kill the nearest crewmate, then flee. This way, it is less likely another crewmate will see the kill, even if they happen to be in the same vicinity.

Despite this risk, the Infinite Kill Range mod makes Among Us exponentially more difficult for crewmates. Because the Airship is so big, it is less likely crewmates will encounter one another while doing tasks. Though crewmates may have some tasks in common, there is ample opportunity for Impostors to get close to an isolated crewmate, make their kill, and get away long before anyone notices.
