The massive popularity of Innersloth's 2018 social deduction game Among Us has all but ensured fans find ways to combine it with other popular games. From custom Mario and Luigi skins for Among Us characters to Among Us outfits for The Sims 4, the community has gotten very creative about bringing their favorite games together. While players wait for new updates to Among Us, including the new Airship map set to launch in 2021, they have found new ways to keep the classic format feeling fresh and challenging. Players set up custom mini-games within an Among Us lobby. Some members of the community have created a new custom game mode that combines the horror aspect of Among Us with another popular horror game, Dead by Daylight.

In Dead By Daylight, players are separated into two groups, killers and survivors. Survivors run around trying to repair generators and stay alive, while killers hunt them and try to sacrifice them to a mysterious being known as The Entity. This is somewhat similar to the format of Among Us, making this a perfect match. Playing Dead By Daylight in Among Us is very similar to playing the more popular Hide and Seek custom game mode, with a few added rules and game settings. Unlike the classic version of Among Us, in which crewmates try to determine who the Impostors are, all players will know right away. The Impostors' job is still to kill all crewmates, but now the odds are stacked even more firmly in their favor. The object of the game for crewmates, then, is less about deduction and more about speed and survival. Here's how to set up and play Dead by Daylight in Among Us.

Among Us Crewmates Impostors Win

As with all mods and custom game modes, players should only set up Dead By Daylight in private Among Us lobbies. Because these game modes are not technically supported by Innersloth at the time of writing, players will need to have a high level of cooperation with one another and adhere to house rules. The only surefire way to keep everyone playing nicely is to only try these game modes with friends or family.

To win the game in this version of Among Us, Impostors must kill all crewmates, or crewmates must complete all their tasks.

The rules of Dead By Daylight mode are fairly simple. At the start of a new game, Impostors must either call an emergency meeting or announce themselves via voice chat so the crewmates immediately know who they are. Then, the Impostor or Impostors will need to stand in a central location and give a countdown, typically around 20 or 30 seconds. During this time, crewmates need to get a head start on tasks.

Sabotage is allowed, but only to Communications and lights. Impostors may not sabotage oxygen or lock doors. These sabotages can only be performed at the start of the game. Crewmates are not allowed to fix Communications or lights. Crewmates must agree not to report dead bodies or call Emergency Meetings beyond the first one during which the Impostors announce themselves. Players who break these rules can be kicked out of the lobby.

Lobby hosts can change some of the game settings prior to the start of the game to better facilitate this custom mode. The most important settings to change are:

  • Emergency Meetings: 1 or 0
  • Player Speed: 0.75x
  • Crewmate Vision: 5x
  • Impostor Vision: 0.25x
  • Kill Cooldown: 27.5 seconds
  • Kill Distance: Short
  • Visual Tasks: Off
  • Common tasks: 2
  • Long tasks: 2
  • Short tasks: 3

As usual, players can experiment with these settings and others with their group and decide what works best for their playing style. Some groups may want more tasks, or more long tasks, and others may want to limit crewmate vision more. Ultimately, players can tweak the game to best suit their needs.
