While many Among Us Role Mods focus on adding new activities and abilities for crewmates, many new Impostor Role Mods have gained popularity and traction with content creators and fans alike. Among Us role mods, like the Thanos Role Mod, have a tendency to make the Impostors over-powered, but that can often make for moments of hilarity that translate well in streams and videos. The Assassin Role Mod is different, though, and appears to make it more difficult for Impostors to win the game. When coupled with the Extra Roles Mod for crewmates, the Assassin Impostor is likely to have a very hard time winning.

The Assassin Role Mod for Among Us was created and demonstrated by popular creator Socksfor1. When a player is assigned to be the Impostor, like any good assassin, they are given a target to go after. They will have 45 seconds to eliminate the target, or they will die instead. The Assassin does have the ability to go invisible for a limited period of time. In spite of this, when an Impostor is required to only go after a single target, it can be difficult to make a kill undetected. Here's how to play the Assassin Impostor Role Mod in Among Us.

How to Play the Assassin Impostor Role in Among Us

At the time of writing, only Socksfor1 and his friends have access to the Assassin Role Mod for Among Us. Though it is not widely available for download, players may have luck getting into a game that uses this mod by joining a server that has it installed, for example, via public community servers like Skeld.net. It is also possible that, given its popularity, another creator programs a similar version that is more publicly available.

When a player is assigned to be Impostor with the Assassin Role Mod installed, they will receive their target crewmate in the bottom-left corner of the screen. They are only able to kill that crewmate; the Kill button will remain greyed out if the player is not near the target. A countdown timer will appear, letting the Assassin know how much time they have left of their 45 seconds to successfully eliminate their target.

Because it is less likely that the Assassin Impostor will always find their assigned target alone, they will also have a button that allows them to turn and stay invisible at will. This way, they can still enter a crowded room, make a kill, and run or vent away to avoid being immediately spotted. They can also use all the regular Impostor sabotages to try and coax their target into a specific location.

If the Assassin Impostor manages to eliminate their target in the allotted time, the timer will reset and they will receive a new target. If they don't, they will die and, depending on how many Impostors are left, the game may be over.

As Socksfor1 found in his run as the Assassin Impostor, it can be very easy to figure out which player is not around if crewmates stay together while doing tasks. When someone is killed in front of other crewmates, it is fairly simple to figure out who must have been invisible and is therefore the Impostor. Assassin Impostors will really need to work hard to avoid detection while on a time crunch to find and kill a single crewmate. This is one Impostor role mod that doesn't appear to favor the Impostors.

In Socksfor1's video, linked below, he and his friends play with other role mods, including the Doctor, Detective, Jester, and Mayor Roles for crewmates. The Detective Role Mod makes it impossible for the Impostor to win when playing the Assassin Role Mod, as the Detective can still see an invisible player's footprints. However, the other roles add a dimension of challenge without being quite so over-powered.
