Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive new clip from the upcoming feature film, Plane. This new entry into the action genre that propelled him to stardom sees Gerard Butler as the captain of a plane that crashes on an isolated island in the Philippines. Butler will have to survive the jungle alongside Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Yoson An (Mulan), and Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Dominion). Plane will be released by Lionsgate on January 13.

When Plane starts, Captain Brodie Torrance (Butler) thinks the most extraordinary thing about the flight he's piloting is the transport of a fugitive criminal, Louis Gaspare (Colter). But after a lightning strike causes the captain to make an emergency landing on a remote island, the survivor's problems are only just beginning. Torrance is forced to turn to Gaspare for help when the rest of the passengers are kidnaped by a gang of dangerous rebels. Together they must survive not only the rebels but the jungle island itself if they are to free their compatriots.

What To Expect From Plane

Mike Colter and Gerard Butler in Plane

In this exclusive clip presented by Screen Rant, the survivors are in terrible danger. They've survived their crash landing, but are now surrounded by men with guns. A member of the crew, Dele (An), presents himself as the one in charge, as Torrance and Gaspare are concealed in nearby greenery. The rebels are holding guns on the survivors and demanding to see the flight's passenger list, which is eventually handed over by another crew member, Bonnie (Pineda). As Gaspare forcefully holds Torrance back, the leader of the gang demands to know where Captain Brodie Torrance is. It's clear Torrance is more than willing to charge into danger, while Gaspare keeps a clearer head, understanding there's nothing the two can do to help their compatriots at that moment.

The trailer for Plane gives a broader view of the peril at play in the film. What at first appears as though it'll be a fairly routine flight for Captain Brodie Torrance gets its first surprise in the form of Louis Gaspare, a fugitive who had been on the run for 15 years and is now being extradited to the United States. A lightning strike forces the captain to make a crash landing, which sadly is only the beginning of the problems of those on the plane. Soon after the crash, the survivors discover that the remote island they've landed on is actually inhabited by a group of rebels so dangerous the Filipino government has all but abandoned it. When these rebels take the bulk of the remaining passengers hostage, Torrance and Gaspare must work together to try and rescue them, and save themselves. They must survive together, or die alone.

The white-knuckle action movie Plane promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seat, and biting their nails with every frame. The film launches what looks to be a thrilling lineup for Lionsgate in 2023. Their action-packed slate this year includes the much anticipated fourth entry into Keanu Reeves' thrilling John Wick franchise. In the fall, 2023 will also see the expansion of the beloved The Hunger Games franchise, with the much-anticipated prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
