Whether it is Quick Tap or any other Pixel 6 feature that’s not working, a simple and age-old trick can often fix the problem. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are both excellent smartphones, but they are still new phones, and that does mean things can sometimes go wrong or features won't work quite as expected. Over time, much of these annoyances will be overcome through software updates, but users may need to take more of a proactive approach to bugs in the meantime.

The Pixel 6 series was unveiled by Google in October of 2021. Technically, the veil was lifted much earlier considering Google released press renders and even confirmed many of the main features in the months leading up to the launch. While Google’s new Tensor chip is arguably the most interesting addition, Pixel phones do come with plenty of other features buried within Android 12, many of which are helped along through the power of Google’s AI smarts.

This on and off-device processing can be useful, but there might be times when a feature doesn’t work as intended. For example, Quick Tap allows Pixel phone users to take super-fast screenshots by simply double-tapping the back of the device but the feature suddenly stopped working on more than one Pixel 6 Pro here at Screen Rant. Regardless of the number of taps, or the speed, no screenshots were taken. The fix was simple enough, however, as a quick restart of the phone rebooted the system and cleared the bug. For those that are having an issue with Quick Tap not working on a Pixel phone, a restart should absolutely be the first thing to try.

It Might Solve Many Pixel Problems

Pixel 6 Pro and 6

Although the example used here is Quick Tap, the simple act of rebooting the system is likely to fix many annoying and frustrating issues. This is possibly more true on a Pixel phone than others, due to Google’s tendency to rely on software more than other smartphone makers. Software can have its issues and while ‘did you try turning it off and on again’ is a meme within tech circles, there’s a lot of truth to the statement as well. When a device like a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro is having software problems and not performing as expected, the user really should try turning it off and on again. That is, at least before digging through forums and help posts to look for more specific and in-depth fixes, solutions and workarounds to a problem.

Again, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are still new smartphones and age often plays a role in the reliability of a device. In the specific case of Pixel phones, there is the added issue of these devices running on a still-new version of Android. When combined, both of these situations can often lead to unusual or unexpected behaviors, most of which will improve over time as the phone ages and as Google releases more Android software updates. In the meantime, don't underestimate the power of restarting a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
