Players can unlock Purple Pikmin in Pikmin Bloom. The newest augmented reality game to release from Niantic puts the Pikmin series center stage. In this title, players are able to grow Pikmin based on the number of steps they walk. Players can set it so the game keeps track of steps even when the game isn't open. Like the mainline Pikmin entries, players are able to grow different types of Pikmin depending on the sprouts they collect. From the beginning, players will only have access to Red Pikmin. As players unlock more areas and abilities, more types of Pikmin will begin to appear in the world. Players won't face off against bosses like Pikmin 3 Deluxe, but Purple Pikmin are still a valuable asset.

In Pikmin Bloom, players will want to get their hands on Purple Pikmin as quickly as possible. A single Purple Pikmin has the strength of five normal Pikmin and is a valuable asset to have around when going on Pikmin Bloom expeditions. Purple Pikmin also do more damage when participating in Mushroom Battles with other players. While Purple Pikmin do take longer to grow, requiring 300 steps before it changes from a sapling, they are well worth the step investment.
