We have a few beautiful photos to share from the set of Tarsem Singh's upcoming Greek mythology film Immortals. Formerly known as War of the Gods, the film stars Mickey Rourke, Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, John Hurt, Kellan Lutz and Stephen Dorff.
Based on the images, the film will continue Singh's trend in creating visually stunning movies. If you'd like to see on-set journals from behind the scenes, head over to Rogue's website.
It has hardly been two months since the cast rounded out with the addition of Dorff. While there are no shots of Dorff in action, you can get a good look at Pinto, Cavill and Rourke. Unfortunately the photos from Immortals are not in 3D, but the film will be presented in the third dimension.
The close-up of Rourke is a fascinating image. He looks mighty impressive as King Hyperion, leader of the Greek revolution against the Titans. It would be nice to see the origin of that facial scar, but I won't dwell. All that remains unknown is his accent. I actually enjoyed his Russian in Iron Man 2, leaving me fairly confident in his performance as a Greek.
Henry Cavill, of The Tudors fame, can be seen in the other two photos. In one, he prepares to fight an enemy with a sword.
The other shows a resting Cavill behind the beautiful Freida Pinto. Why does this scene remind me of The Last Samurai?
Last is quite literally a "buttcam" shot of an anonymous character. It looks a bit like Mickey Rourke, but Coming Soon claims it is Robert Maillet's Minotaur character. The photo also shows the indoor set and massive lights.
If you'd like to see some of Tarsem Singh's work, check out The Cell and The Fall. Both are visually amazing and worth a look.
Immortals hits theaters in 2D and 3D on November 11, 2011.
