Just in time for Halloween, Phasmophobia is the new Twitch hit that's offering players a creepy ghost hunting experience. Four players are dropped off at a location to determine what kind of spirit is haunting the place. If they take too long, or say the wrong things, the ghost can turn violent and start killing them one by one. It's popular, it's scary, and it's only in Early Access so far, but already players are wondering: is there a way to control the ghost in Phasmophobia?

Phasmophobia features some pretty impressive voice recognition AI, which means ghosts can hear players at all times. Through various ghost hunting tools like Spirit Boxes or Ouija boards, players can communicate with the supernatural entity. Certain questions will get responses, while others won't. However, doing things like speaking the ghost's name aloud can turn the ghost violent more quickly. That being said, some people playing Phasmophobia would likely rather become to spirits themselves, much like other asymmetrical horror titles.

Currently, goading the ghost into being violent is the only real control players have on the spirit. Responses and questions are already predetermined. Still, it looks like playing as a ghost in Phasmophobia would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, there is no available option to play as the ghost in Phasmophobia's main game right now. However, Kinetic Games, the indie studio behind Phasmophobia, has already hinted at implementing this feature in the future.

When Can People Play As The Ghost In Phasmophobia?

Recently, Kinetic Games showed a number of planned content updates and changes on their public roadmap for Phasmophobia. This roadmap involves a number of new locations, new items, and even an exciting new feature that would allow players to control the ghost in the game. For anyone who's longed to frighten their friends as an otherworldly spirit, it's a dream come true.

The real question is when these updates will come to Phasmophobia. For now, the game is still technically in Early Access via Steam. This means fans of the popular horror title may have to wait until it gets a full release before this new content becomes available. There's also no guarantee people will actually get to play as ghosts once the new updates arrive, since the roadmap shows what Kinetic Games wants to do - not necessarily what they're actually implementing into the final version of Phasmophobia.

A lot of questions still remain in regards to Phasmophobia. Whether it's upcoming console accessibility or new modes to change the way people play the game, there are a lot of exciting things Kinetic Games has planned. Hopefully, a new feature that lets players control the ghosts in Phasmophobia will be implemented soon.
