The co-op ghost hunting game may still be in early access on Steam, but Phasmophobia gets regular updates. A few of these updates have included new content, with more being teased by its creator at Kinetic Games. Over the Halloween weekend, some players noticed a new ghost in the game. And, so far, no one's been able to figure out exactly who or what it is.

Changes and new content have been expected in Phasmophobia for some time. Kinetic Games has a public roadmap of planned updates on Trello, so fans have been able to see what to expect in the future. While new locations and new ghosts in Phasmophobia were listed on the roadmap, there was no definitive release dates given. Surprisingly, one of those new ghosts appears to have already been put into the game.

Phasmophobia's third update saw some bug fixes and minor changes, but players also soon discovered a new ghost in the game. This new crawling ghost has a strange, contorted way of moving across the screen. With pale skin and dark hair hiding its face, there's plenty about it to creep out Phasmophobia's many fans.

What We Know About Phasmophobia's New Crawling Ghost

The new ghost in Phasmophobia comes as a much-welcomed surprise. After becoming massively popular over the past month and a half, fans have been wanting some new Phasmophobia content for a while. So far, the crawling ghost has been spotted skittering past players before disappearing. Because no one is sure what this new ghost is, or how the ghost died, there's an air of mystery surrounding its appearance as well.

So far, no one has been able to figure out the new crawling ghost's weaknesses or its class. It appears suddenly, only to vanish a few seconds later. Because of this, many players haven't been able to capture the new ghost on camera or figure out anything about it. Some fans are speculating it's just a re-skin of an existing ghost model rather than a brand-new ghost with a unique background and weakness.

Kinetic Games hasn't offered any kind of confirmation to this theory, either. At this point, it looks like the new crawling ghost is just there to freak players out before disappearing a few seconds later. In a horror game that's already as scary as Phasmophobia, adding a new ghost that's giving players the creeps is pretty impressive. And until players learn more, the crawling ghost's origins remain a mystery.
