Phasmophobia's new Exposition Update introduced two new ghosts to hunt: the Goryo and Myling. Phasmophobia previously added the Hantu and Yokai in mid-July, and Exposition's Goryo and Myling bring the game's ghost roster to 16.
New tools, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements join the Goryo and Myling in the update, incorporating highly requested features into the game. Player speed has been increased, and sprinting is now a burst of speed that recharges over time. The DOTS Projector is a brand-new tool available to identify ghosts, and the Infrared Sensor has been merged with the Motion Sensor.
Changes have been made to existing ghost types as well, which should offer players new challenges as they hunt the dead. Evidence for all of Phasmophobia's existing ghost types has been changed to accommodate the Goryo and Myling. Additionally, ghosts are now invisible at the beginning of their hunts and don't become visible until they move. Ghost movement during hunts is also now accelerated if players enter their line of sight. These changes make the potential of the Goryo and Myling even more frightening.
Phasmophobia's Goryo & Myling Ghosts Are Terrifying New Threats
Goryo
Phasmophobia's new Goryo ghost is a shy but dangerous foe that will only attack once provoked. Unfortunately, this means players may have a difficult time identifying it. The Goryo's greatest weakness is that it will never venture far from where it died. Hunters will need to use an EMF Detector, a UV light, and the new DOTS Projector to confirm its ghost type.
The DOTS Projector can be placed on a wall to project green dots around a room, and the Goryo's form will appear as a shadow over the projected light, giving players the evidence they need. As far as this Phasmophobia ghost's identity before death, in Japanese culture, the Goryo is a nobleperson who died "as a result of political intrigue," according to Britannica.
Myling
Phasmophobia's Myling is very different from the Goryo, as it will constantly make noise as players try to locate it. The Myling will hunt players one at a time and become eerily quiet once it begins stalking its prey. An EMF Detector can be used to locate the ghost's room, and a UV Light and a Ghost Writing Book are also required to obtain evidence. Like most Phasmophobia ghosts, players can manipulate the Myling by provoking its rage.
The Myling comes from Scandanavian culture and is believed to be the spirit of a child looking for a proper burial. With Halloween just around the corner, these two ghosts may provide just what developer Kinetic Games needs to attract new players for the spooky season.
