The latest game in the Persona series finally has an international release date, as Persona Q2: New Cinema Labriynth will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on June 4th, 2019.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labriynth is the second game in the Persona crossover series, with the first game uniting the casts of both Persona 3 and Persona 4. Persona Q2 will be adding the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 into the mix, as well as the female protagonist of Persona 3 Portable. Persona Q2 was first announced in 2018 and the Japanese version of the game was released on November 29th of that year. The fact Persona Q2 is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS left some fans concerned that the game wouldn't be localized, despite how popular Persona 5 has become.

IGN is reporting that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth will be released in the west on June 4th, 2019. The game will only feature Japanese voice acting with English subtitles and there will be a special Showtime Premium Edition costing $69.99 that includes a plush of Koromaru from Persona 3, an art book, a set of playing cards, and four buttons depicting the four protagonists from the series.

The Japanese version of Persona Q2: New Cinema Labriynth also had free DLC for people who bought the game at launch, which consisted of songs from Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 4: Golden, Persona Q, and Persona 5. However, we don't know if a similar deal will be happening for the international release of the game.

The Persona Q games are more similar to the Etrian Odyssey series than the three Persona titles that the fans will be familiar with. Those who are interested in buying Persona Q2: New Cinema Labriynth due to their love of Persona 5 should know that the game is more of a first-person dungeon crawler with a focus on battling and exploration, with almost none of the social links or similar systems being part of the game.

Persona 5 is one of the best games of this generation (which is why we gave it our Best Game of 2017 award) and the fans have been clamoring for more content involving the Phantom Thieves. A new Persona 5 game is in development at the moment (which we know nothing about except for the fact that it's called Persona 5 R) and Joker is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC character, so we will be seeing a lot more of the Phantom Thieves in the future.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labriynth will likely be the last big third-party exclusive title for the Nintendo 3DS (despite what Nintendo may have said in the past) and if the positive reception to the game in Japan is anything to go by, then it will be an incredible swansong for one of Nintendo's best portable systems.
