Persona 5 Royal, in addition to a revamped confidant system and a whole new semester, includes many smaller tweaks that have widespread implications throughout the game's even lengthier run-time. Some of these changes aren't overtly explained in the game either, which can make it challenging to decide how to best approach building up a persona's skills.

By the end of the game, each character will be able to have a persona with eight different skills. Due to some of the changes in Persona 5 Royal, there are new things to consider when optimizing builds. This guide will explain how to craft the best build for Ryuji.

Ryuji's Persona Evolutions in Persona 5 Royal

Ryuji is the first member to join Joker in his quest for justice, and he's one of the most powerful party-members to boot. The first persona he receives is Captain Kidd. Captain Kidd will evolve into Seiten Taisei once the player reaches Rank 10 with Ryuji's Chariot Confidant. In the third semester, the player will be able to evolve Seiten Taisei into William by speaking to Ryuji. Each new evolution will grant Ryuji's persona even more skills, but with only 8 slots, the player will have to ultimately decide which to keep.

Best Skills for Ryuji's Persona in Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal gives the player plenty of room for experimentation, but with a straightforward heavy-hitter like Ryuji, it's best to lean into his strengths. These are the eight skills it is recommended to keep for an end game build:

  • (1) Agneyastra
  • (2) Arms Master
  • (3) Charge
  • (4) Fighting Spirit
  • (5) God's Hand
  • (6) Maziodyne
  • (7) Shock Boost
  • (8) Ziodyne

Matarukaja can be a useful skill as well, but it has a high SP cost that offsets its overall usefulness. Evade Wind could be swapped with either Ziodyn or Maziodyne if the player is more defensively minded, but the number of enemies who use wind attacks is marginal compared to the usefulness of Ryuji's electric arsenal.

Best Equipment for Ryuji in Persona 5 Royal

Ryuji's best melee weapon is undoubtedly the Imprisoned Mjolnir, and his best-ranged weapon is the Megido Blaster. As far as armor goes, Ryuji can't go wrong with Tantric Oath R. In general, this is the best armor for all male characters, but especially for Ryuji. It might not have the highest defense stat, but Ryuji's tank-like nature makes up for that and the protection against magic damage is much more important.

All in all, Ryuji is a solid fighter who is capable of dishing out damage and taking a hit. Keep these suggestions in mind and no one will stand a chance against the Phantom Thieves.
