Perfect Match contestant Bartise Bowden took to the comments section of a recently posted TikTok to make a disrespectful statement regarding female cast members on dating shows. Bartise’s reality TV career started with Love Is Blind season 3 when he proposed to Nancy Rodriquez, a successful woman who fell for him in the pods. Nancy committed to a lifelong love with Bartise when the time came, and Bartise was the one to say no. He quickly became a controversial face of Love Is Blind for the way he treated her. Shortly after he and Nancy split up, he went on to repeat this behavior with his pursuit of love on Perfect Match.

Bartise recently replied to a TikTok user with a disrespectful apparent dig at women who partake in dating shows. Bartise shared a video promoting the newly released episodes of Perfect Match, where a TikTok user called him out for his treatment of women and requested that he reflect on how he’d want his sister to be treated by men.

Bartise replied to the comment by saying, “My sister is smart enough to not go on reality tv shows to ‘date’ but yes ma’am heard loud and clear!” Another user was quick to identify Bartise’s snide remark as an exposure of his lack of respect for his female Love Is Blind and Perfect Match co-stars. “So you’re saying the women on Perfect Match should’ve been smarter and not go on the show? if they didn’t want to be treated that way by you?”

Bartise’s Behavior On Perfect Match Shows His True Colors

Bartise admitted to feeling embarrassed by his behavior on Love Is Blind, which led to the expectation that he would have learned from it and apply it to his second shot at love on Perfect Match. This was quickly debunked when he matched with Ines Tazi and angrily belittled her for choosing to match with someone else. It was highlighted again when matched with Abbey Humphreys, which ended with him insulting her for expressing discomfort over undressing in front of the cameras. Perhaps Bartise has some unresolved, built-up anger toward women that makes him feel he needs to drag them every chance he gets.

Bartise’s comment exposes not only his suspected disingenuous intentions on dating shows but also that women specifically aren’t "smart" if they partake in the very same dating experiences he's done himself. His female Love Is Blind and Perfect Match co-stars likely wouldn’t receive this comment well should they be made aware of it. It isn’t clear that he was only addressing female cast members, but if he wasn’t, then he ultimately implied that he isn’t "smart" either. No one should be held to their words or mistakes, especially when all of their reactions and decisions are being filmed. Bartise doesn’t appear to learn from those actions, or maybe this is simply the way he wishes to be seen.

Being a reality TV personality isn’t easy as their most vulnerable moments in relationships are broadcast for the world to analyze. Besides, with filming comes editing, and TV producers like to deliver good drama. Bartise is, at the very least, edited and depicted as a villainous cast member of both Love Is Blind and Perfect Match. His commentary on social media, however, is not to be taken with the same weight as what’s released on Netflix. If Bartise makes another appearance, the hope is that the consistent backlash will be received as a lesson for his future relationships with women.

Perfect Match season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
