Now that the Percy Jackson Disney+ show has officially received the go-ahead, fans are taking the Internet by storm to share their excited reactions to the upcoming series. Fans of the Percy Jackson series have been eager to get a live-action adaptation of the series for years, often rejecting the two films which were produced, since they changed so much about the narrative.

Fans are looking forward to the Disney+ project in part because the creator, Rick Riordan, will have such a say in its development. While Riordan has made it clear that appearances may not be exactly the same as the books depicted them, the spirit of the characters should be authentic, and with the successes so far on Disney+, fans can expect to see many of the books adapted to the screen.

Nico di Angelo

Nico is introduced as a ten-year-old in The Titan's Curse and becomes a part of the Camp Half-Blood community while his sister Bianca goes on a quest with Percy and Grover. Nico doesn't remember most of his past, a fact that doesn't bother him much until Percy and his friends start trying to pry into the details of it.

He is not immediately recognized by his godly parent, although there was clearly some kind of mythical interference in his and his sister's mysterious past. Nico is a nerdy kid, used to playing alone with his Mythomagic cards and figurines. He is excited by the prospect of being a demigod but becomes more jaded by the experience as time goes on and he learns about its risks.

Rachel Elizabeth Dare

Rachel is introduced briefly in The Titan's Curse before taking on a greater role in the later books. Rachel has the unusual ability to see through the mist, which usually makes mortals oblivious to the monsters and demigods fighting around them.

Rachel is very artistic and is open-minded to finding out about all of the monsters in the world. While she had never encountered them herself before running into Percy and his friends, she accepts the world quickly before finding her place inside of it.

Thalia Grace

Thalia is introduced at the end of Sea of Monsters before taking on a greater role in the later books. Assuming the show gets as many seasons as there are books, she will be an important power player in the series. Thalia is the child of Zeus, who was taken out of her ordinary life for a long time before being saved by Percy and his friends.

She is a critical part of Luke, Annabeth, and Grover's history with each other, and is described as the motivation for many characters' actions.

Tyson

Tyson, Grover, Percy, and Annabeth in a cave in Percy Jackson.

Tyson is a cyclops who clings to Percy as his best friend and half-brother in Sea of Monsters. He grew up homeless in New York City and prayed for his father to help him because he was under constant attack from monsters. This help came through meeting and befriending Percy, and eventually being brought into the Camp Half-Blood community.

Tyson is described as very strong, although his gentle nature keeps him from fighting back against monsters and mortals alike who would attack him. He is extremely skilled at forging, creating weapons and chariots for Percy and the other campers. He is shunned at camp because he is seen as a monster, leaving him an outcast yet again from all of those around him.

Clarisse La Rue

Clarisse looking to her left in Percy Jackson.

Clarisse is the daughter of Ares and is described as violent and competitive. She feels deeply resentful that Percy faces a minotaur on his first day at camp and that he gets a quest soon after. In the camp, fighting monsters is prestige, and Clarisse wants that prestige for herself.

Clarisse also dislikes Annabeth, who is her primary competitor in the camp's games of capture the flag. She is a minor antagonist in the first book but takes on a much larger role in later books, which will hopefully be developed as later seasons of the Disney + show.

Chiron

Centaur Chiron with percy Jackson

Chiron is the activities director at Camp Half-Blood, as well as being the centaur trainer of heroes for millennia. He begins the series disguised as Percy's Latin teacher and helps to guide Percy through his journey to becoming a hero. Fans hope that he will have more of a role to play in the Disney+ series, a lesson the series should learn from the original films.

In general, Chiron seems to be wary of sending campers on quests, hoping against all evidence that Percy will not be the child of the prophecy and that he will not have a powerful godly parent. Chiron knows the dangers that half-bloods face and wants their safety more than their glory. He is a calm and intelligent mentor, helping to steer Percy in the right directions without getting overly involved in the quests themselves.

Luke Castellan

Luke is a 19-year-old Hermes cabin counselor who helps Percy learn swordsmanship and find a place within the camp, becoming one of Percy's first friends in the new world. He is the most understanding of Percy's anger at his godly father, and becomes a mentor figure for Percy, helping to show him the ropes of Camp Half-Blood.

Luke is the son of Hermes, the messenger god, and he has gone on a quest prior to the start of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians saga. He was part of the group that found Annabeth and got her to Camp Half-Blood, so they have a very close relationship.

Grover Underwood

Brandon T Jackson as Grover in Percy Jackson

Grover is biologically twelve when the series starts, although he is chronologically older since satyrs grow at a different rate than humans.

Grover is described as kind of dorky, but loyal, and is haunted by a dark secret that has to do with Annabeth and Luke. His character arc is based on wanting to eventually be able to search for the god Pan, who has been missing for thousands of years, but in order to get his searcher's license, he must first find and assist demigods on their quests. He is Percy's best friend and is fiercely protective of him and Annabeth as they go on their quest.

Annabeth Chase

Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario as Percy and Annabeth in Percy Jackson

Annabeth is a child of Athena, embracing both the wisdom and battle sides of her mother's domain. She is extremely smart, specifically when it comes to battle plans. Annabeth ran away from home at seven years old and has been at Camp Half-Blood for almost the entire time since, making her the expert in how the camp works and what life as a demigod is like.

Annabeth wants to be an architect one day, so she is extremely interested in buildings and bridges, a character trait that comes up repeatedly throughout the series. She's sarcastic and can be prideful, thinking her intelligence makes her better than other people, but she loves the camp and her friends dearly and will put them before herself anytime she thinks it's necessary.

Percy Jackson

Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson

Percy begins the series at 12-years-old, having been expelled from every school he's ever attended, which is a consequence of his dyslexia, ADHD, and the random occurrences that seem to keep happening around him.

Percy has control over water, particularly saltwater, and is healed by touching it. He loves his mother desperately, which leads to him being angry at his godly father for abandoning them and leaving them with the abusive Gabe Ugliano. Percy is very aware of the dangers of being a half-blood and doesn't want that life, but he is brave and well-suited to it. He is occasionally impulsive, which can get him in trouble, but he is deeply loyal to his friends and family and will do anything to keep them safe.
