Set photos from the upcoming Percy Jackson TV series reveal what Camp Half-Blood's armor will look like. The show is based on the massively popular book series Percy Jackson & The Olympians, written by Rick Riordan. After two mildly successful film adaptations, it was announced in May 2020 that the series would be getting a TV adaptation exclusively on Disney+. Filming began on June 2, 2022 in Vancouver, and Riordan has estimated that Percy Jackson will be released in early 2024.

Though Percy Jackson was adapted into two franchise films, The Lightning Thief in 2010 and Sea of Monsters in 2013, reception was incredibly mixed. Long-time fans of the original book series heavily criticized the films as they deviated significantly from the source material, and Riordan himself admitted to having little to no creative control on the films. However, in the new Percy Jackson TV series, Riordan is fully involved in the process, and has praised early footage of the show. While nothing has been officially revealed, a few peeks have emerged. For example, behind the scenes photos have already teased the set for Camp Half-Blood, a key location from the books. Camp Half-Blood is where Percy and his fellow demigods train and often live, so there has been a lot of anticipation surrounding the eventual reveal of the show's version.

A post on social media from @hotyturner revealed a set photo of two Percy Jackson extras in Vancouver, clad in Camp Half-Blood's armor. The two actors are wearing bright orange shirts, presumably the iconic Camp Half-Blood shirts, beneath battle-worn brass armor. The post says that the actors are supposedly filming the Capture the Flag sequence from the first Percy Jackson book. Check out the photo below:

The Capture the Flag sequence is one of The Lightning Thief's most iconic moments. In the novels, Capture the Flag is a Camp Half-Blood game that allows demigods to fight each other and against monsters. Percy's first Capture the Flag game results in him being claimed by his godly parent, Poseidon, thus sparking the rest of the series' narrative. Even the film adaptation, which combined the plots of several different Percy Jackson books, included the Capture the Flag sequence, as it's one of the most important moments in The Lightning Thief.

Though the actual armor itself looks fairly similar to the armor worn in the Percy Jackson films, the orange Camp Half-Blood shirts that are so prevalent in the books were not included in the film adaptations. Though this is a small detail, it speaks to the TV series' desire to be far more faithful to the original source material than previous Percy Jackson adaptations, and to Riordan's close involvement with the show. While fans may have to wait until 2024 to see the Percy Jackson TV series, they can rest assured knowing that this adaptation is striving to be faithful to Riordan's novels.
