Jeff Bridges interrupts fellow roundtable participants Kieran Culkin and Pedro Pascal to get off an amazing joke. An Oscar-winner for the film Crazy Heart, Bridges in 2022 made the leap to the small screen, starring as a former CIA operative whose past returns to haunt him in the FX drama series The Old Man. Co-starring John Lithgow and Alia Shawcat, The Old Man garnered critical acclaim, and currently holds a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Old Man season 2 unfortunately is on hold due to the WGA writers' strike, but Bridges' sense of humor is definitely not on old, as the actor demonstrated by getting off a hilarious joke during a recent actors’ roundtable hosted by THR (via @_elvishpresley_).

In a clip of the moment, Bridges’ fellow roundtable participants Culkin and Pascal are discussing the video game The Last of Us, which Pascal says he tried to play before starring as Joel in HBO’s adaptation. Bridges then interjects that he was sucked into a game once, and when asked by Pascal which game it was, fires off the deadpan answer, “TRON.” TRON of course saw Bridges’ character literally being sucked into a video game world, a different kind of immersion altogether.

Will Jeff Bridges Return For Tron 3

Bridges starred in 1982's original TRON, a groundbreaking VFX film at the time, and its 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy. After sinking into development hell for several years, TRON 3 is now back on, under the title TRON: Ares. TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is no longer involved, though he did have his own TRON sequel ideas, which would have seen more programs like TRON: Legacy’s Quorra escaping the Grid and entering the real world. Jared Leto remains attached to TRON 3, and is believed to be playing the lead character Ares. The most recent TRON 3 update reported that the film is set to begin shooting in Vancouver in July, with previously-announced director Joachim Rønning still onboard.

Plot details for TRON: Ares are being kept under wraps, and thus far no cast has been revealed beyond Leto. Whether Bridges will agree to be drawn into the world of TRON for a third time is still an open question. It’s also not known if Olivia Wilde would return as Quorra, or if Quorra is even part of the story. Given how popular The Last of Us star Pascal is at present, it would be no shock to see him learn what it feels like to be literally sucked into a video game by joining the cast of TRON: Ares.
