In The Pedestrian, an indie puzzle-platform game that combines both 2D and 3D elements, players will venture through the Subway and Sewers before entering the city. While platform games have been around for decades, The Pedestrian puts an interesting spin on the genre. Players guide the Pedestrian figure through all kinds of puzzling traps, navigating the outside world through signs, boards, and other devices.

The previous level of The Pedestrian puts players through a variety of obstacles, but there's plenty more to discover still. Some new mechanics are introduced in these levels, so several puzzles may take some getting used to. From wire coils to computer chips, the Pedestrian will interact with several new objects down in the Subway and Sewers.

After leaving the Warehouse, the Pedestrian must navigate the underground puzzles to catch the train out of the Subway. There's even a multi-part puzzle, requiring several other puzzles to be solved to gather items first. A quick foray into the Sewers awaits after the train, testing players' mettle for a few more rounds before they finally emerge aboveground.

The Pedestrian: Subway Puzzle Solutions

Pedestrian Subway Level Puzzle with a Secret Room

After exiting the elevator from the Warehouse, the Pedestrian will arrive at the Subway station. In the first puzzle, they should drop down to interact with the lever and activate the platform to block the laser. For players looking to collect The Pedestrian's bonus hat collectibles, there is a secret room in this panel. Directly to the right of where the laser hits the floor is the faded outline of a ladder, which leads to the secret room.

Players should descend into the secret room and use the switch on the floor to move the object blocking the dotted line platforms. They will need to jump up to the next switch, proceed right, and drop down to the hat pedestal. Once finished, they can activate the lever and ride the platform up, hop across, and climb the ladder.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Trampoline Puzzles

Pedestrian Subway Level Puzzle featuring trampolines

The next room features a trampoline, which will launch the Pedestrian to previously unreachable heights. They will need to hop on the trampoline and exit left to the next puzzle, which has five panels. These should be rearranged so the ladder and various doors can be connected. They can use the trampoline to reach the ladder in the entry room, then hop up the dotted platforms to the upper right door. They'll need to cross the platform and interact with the box to push it onto the floor below.

Players should then return to the room with three doors and go left, using the next room's trampoline to reach its upper door. Here, they can drag the box back to the previous room, then push it off the platform. They should continue dragging the box across the largest room, through the lower right door, and into the last panel. Once the box is as it can go, they can use it to reach the exit door.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Wire Coil Puzzle

Pedestrian Subway Level Puzzle using Wire Coil

This puzzle has a coil of wire that the Pedestrian needs to use to open the door. They will need to pick up the coil and connect it to the two ports illustrated above. Once both ends are connected, the real door opens, and the barrier in the puzzle is removed.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Laser and Key Puzzle

To solve this puzzle, players must pick up the key and drop down through the dotted line. They should leave the key on the floor, then climb back up to activate the switch. Once activated, the mechanism will push the key beyond the laser beam. They can then drop down to grab the key, then head back up to proceed through the locked door. The next room only requires the Pedestrian to drop down and exit left.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Coil, Chip, and Box Puzzle

Pedestrian Subway Level Puzzle requires multiple steps to solve

Another gaming device is featured in this puzzle, but several different parts are required for it to work. The sticky notes indicate that the lower-left door leads to a coil of wire, the upper left to a computer chip, and the middle right to a box. This note has players gather the wire coil, box, and chip in that order, but they can be completed in any order to finish this handheld gaming device puzzle.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Getting the Wire Coil

Pedestrian Subway Level Puzzle used to get the wire coil for the handheld device

In this puzzle, players must take the lower-left door to get the coil of wire. They should arrange the panels as necessary to connect the doors and ladders, demonstrated above. From the entry room, they should take the left door and activate the lever.

Next, they'll need to return to the first room and go right, taking the platform up to the ladder and ascending to the panel with the box. They can push the box off the platform, go through the door to grab the key, then use the box to get back to the ladder. They can then return to the room with the lever and ascend its ladder. In the final room, they will go through the locked door to grab the wire coil and exit.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Getting the Box

For this puzzle, players should drop the wire coil in the main puzzle, then go through the door leading to the box. One of the panels here can't be moved, so the others should be arranged to connect the doors and ladders as seen above. The Pedestrian can take the upper-right door to the room with two ladders, then descend the ladder leading to the switch. Without activating it, players should continue to the unmovable panel and grab the key. They must leave the key on the platform the switch controls, then activate the switch. The platform will rise with the key on it, which blocks the laser beam.

The Pedestrian must then return to the room with two ladders and descend the other one. They should hop on the dotted line and over to the lever, avoiding the laser beam. The lever will turn off the laser and allow the Pedestrian to grab the key. They can exit left and proceed through the locked door. On the way out, they should make sure to drop down and grab the box, dragging it out of this puzzle and into the previous one.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Getting the Computer Chip

The pedestrian can now take the final door leading to the computer chip puzzle. This one involves a lot of arranging but is otherwise fairly simple. The Pedestrian needs to drop down to areas too far to jump, which means mainly dropping and falling. Players must consider how gravity affects the path through each panel, or the figure will get trapped in the puzzle.

Players must rearrange the panels to connect their doors and ladders, then walk through the lower door of the entry room. They should drop down, take the ladder up, and drop down again to take the door. They can continue this process until they reach the computer chip. The final ladder will lead to the original panel, where the Pedestrian will exit at the top right.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Handheld Gaming Device Puzzle

With all the supplies gathered, the Pedestrian can take the computer chip and put it into one of the gaming device's ovals to give it full power. Next, the wire coil will connect the top and bottom ports. Properly connecting the handheld device removes the barrier blocking the exit. Finally, they can use the box to hop up to the upper level and exit right.

In the next puzzle, players should take the box on the upper-left platform and push it off each ledge until it lands on the trampoline. This will launch the box to the highest dotted line, after which the Pedestrian can use the trampoline to reach it. They can then push the box over to the right and use it to jump up to the exit door.

The Pedestrian: Subway - Train Puzzle

Finally, the Pedestrian arrives on a train out of the subway. The three switches on the bottom of the screen correspond to the number on the clipboard to the left. Players must interact with the far left switch once, then the middle and right switches nine times each. They will need to return to the upper platform and activate the last switch to get the train moving.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Exiting the Train

Pedestrian Sewer Level Puzzle

Before reaching the Downtown City in The Pedestrian, there are a few puzzles in the Sewer. At this point, the lower switch and ladder of the puzzle pictured above are unable to be reached. Players can use the trampoline to bounce over the obstacle and hop up to exit out the left door.

Pedestrian Sewer Level Puzzle with trampolines and spinning blades

The Pedestrian can use the trampolines to jump across this puzzle without touching the spinning blades, then descend the ladder. The next panel, a white sign sitting on a sewer grate, has no obstacles. The Pedestrian can simply take the ladder down to exit.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Archway Puzzle

The Pedestrian Sewer Level Puzzle introducing the Archway Mechanic

The next area introduces another mechanic for solving puzzles, illustrated by the chalk drawing to the bottom right. When an archway has diagonal lines across it, that panel can be placed atop another to let the Pedestrian go through the arch and into the other panel. Players should drag the panel with the archway over the other, then walk through it to exit and continue to the right.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Wire Coil and Archway Puzzle

Here, players should drag the upper panel over the lower one and send the Pedestrian through. Next, they must drag the second one back on top of the first, but with the archway on the other side of the barrier to reach the coil of wire. The Pedestrian can proceed through the arch, grab the coil, and exit right.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Metal Gate Puzzle

Players should bring the wire coil into the next puzzle and connect the two ports illustrated above. This will activate and open the metal gate to the right, which opens the barrier in the puzzle. The Pedestrian should continue through the exit door on the right.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Trampoline Levers Puzzle

Pedestrian Sewer Level Puzzle with lever activated trampolines

On the puzzle after the metal gate, players should connect the upper doors of the two panels and crisscross the lower two. They will need to go through the bottom door to the middle dotted line of the right-hand panel, then drop down. Next, they must exit left to return to the larger panel, this time on the platform with the lever. They can activate the lever and use the trampolines to bounce up to the highest platform of that room. From there, they should take the door to the smaller panel again and activate the lever. They can drop down to that trampoline to get launched to the very top, then exit right.

The Pedestrian: Sewers - Unavailable Key Puzzle

Pedestrian Sewer Level Puzzle with a key and secret room

The final puzzle before entering the Downtown City has another secret room, but it can't be accessed yet. Players should remember this room after all the Downtown City puzzles have been completed. For now, they can use the platforms to hop up to the ladder and leave the Sewers. The Pedestrian will emerge from a pothole to another handheld gaming device puzzle, this time aboveground in the streets of Downtown.
