Peaky Blinders loyalists that yearn for more magic from series creator Steven Knight will be thrilled to know he's working on yet another show for BBC titled Two Tone. While the series will be more about the UK music scene than crime, fans will be hoping that it gets to have intriguing characters like Tommy Shelby and Alfie Solomons.

As a show, Peaky Blinders mostly towers above others of its kind because of the fascinating fictional and real-life characters that push the plot. There's hardly a badly written character but some are more beloved by fans than others, according to votes over on Ranker.

Charles "Uncle Charlie" Strong

Charlie's resourcefulness makes the Shelbys see him as family, even though he isn't related to them by blood. He is an important figure in the series because he is one of the few people that Tommy listens to without dismissing them halfway. And as good-hearted as Charlie is, he doesn't mind committing criminal acts for the Peaky Blinders. This is best seen when he smuggles Danny Whizbang to London.

Luca Changretta

Changretta takes cover during a shootout with the Peaky Blinders in Birmingham

The Changretta crime family boss is undoubtedly one of the best ever Peaky Blinders villains. He shows up in Birmingham in season 4 to avenge the death of his family members at the hands of Tommy's men.

Luca's self-confidence is his most impressive trait. He doesn't hesitate to confront Tommy and promise him doom as he is quite sure he'll come out on top. Much credit goes to him for waging war in a manner no other villain does. Though he doesn't achieve his goal fully, he at least manages to have John killed, a loss that destroys members of the Shelby family emotionally.

Polly Gray

Polly serves as the matriarch of the Shelby family for the first 5 seasons of the BBC drama. Unfortunately, she gets killed by the IRA in the final season.

Ever tough, Polly has no problem parenting even the toughest of gangsters. She always knows what's best for the family. If she has to sacrifice one person for the safety of others, she'll gladly do it and this is why she pushes for a deal with Changretta to spare the rest and only go after Tommy. Apart from her stern nature, she has great business acumen and is majorly responsible for the success of the Shelby Company limited.

Curly

Curly is known as a dedicated ferryman and stableman at Charlie Strong's Yard. He rarely speaks but always does what is required of him.

Curly's hard work is mostly what endears him to fans. Even Tommy tells May that Curly's "Englan's best horseman." And like every other Shelby family associate, he never has a problem with becoming violent whenever the need to defend oneself arises. Curly is quite hospitable too, judging from the way he treats May when she comes looking for Tommy.

Ada Shelby

The only female among the Shelby siblings, Ada initially stays away from the family business. Later in the series, she becomes the Head of Property & Acquisitions at the US office of the Shelby Company Limited.

Ada comes off as an interesting character because she enjoys defying her family. She not only marries a communist but also engages herself in communist causes, something that results in her being isolated. But despite her differences with her family, she remains loyal and never jeopardizes their operations in a major way.

Johnny Dogs

Johnny Dogs gathers weapons for the war with Kimber in Peaky Blinders

Dogs is introduced in the first season as an associate of the Shelby family. He appears infrequently for the rest of the series, doing favors for Tommy whenever he asks.

By holding the Shelby siblings in high regard, Dogs establishes himself as a likable character. Whether it's getting rid of dead bodies or simply officiating a wedding (as he does when John is forcefully married to Esem), he'll do it. He is a bringer of tranquility too, something he proves by successfully making the Shelby family and the Lee family sign a treaty.

John Shelby

John holds guard at his home in Peaky Blinders

Though not one of the smartest Peaky Blinders characters, John is a high-ranking member of the family and is said to hold a 1/3 stake at the Shelby Company Limited. He is a war hero too, having served under the Warwickshire Yeomanry.

John can always be counted on to be on the front line defending the family whenever there is a gang war. After all, he is literally a terminator as he once confesses to having killed over 100 men. He is very proud to be a Peaky Blinders member too and he never minds sacrificing his own happiness for the good of the family. It's for this reason that he agrees to marry Esme.

Alfie Solomons

The Camden Town crime boss often switches between being an associate of Tommy and being a foe. On the business side, he has heavily invested in the racetrack rackets and a rum distillery.

The major thing that makes Alfie a legendary character is that he's played by one of the best ever Hollywood actors, Tom Hardy. His speech tends to be very impressive too and as such Alfie's best quotes in Peaky Blinders haven't been topped by most of the other main characters. Alfie's unpredictability also makes him an interesting character to follow as there is no telling when he'll kill or betray.

Arthur Shelby

Arthur is the eldest of the Shelby siblings, He also serves as the Vice President of the Shelby Company Limited and Tommy's right hand.

Arthur can be both nice and brutal, depending on his mood. Thanks to his brutality, the Peaky Blinders are greatly feared. He is often at the center of any plan to punish foes, notably the attack at the Eden Club and the murder of a race referee. Arthur's complicated relationship arcs tend to make for great viewing too.

Tommy Shelby

Tommy starts out as a crime boss and leader of the Peaky Blinders. He soon grows to be the MP of Birmingham and a distinguished member of the Labor Party.

Tommy thrives in intelligence and poise. He is ever composed and rarely makes the wrong decisions. Consequently, he manages to get the better of his enemies throughout the run of the BBC drama. And despite leading the most dangerous gang in the country, Tommy isn't heartless. On many occasions, he has shown remorse and empathy.
