Director James Gunn recently shared new Peacemaker set images to celebrate the show's release in the UK. Serving as a spinoff of Gunn's popular DCEU entry The Suicide Squad, the HBO series follows Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker (John Cena), as he and the 11th Street Kids attempt to stop an alien invasion by the Butterflies. The series proved very popular on HBO and, and a Peacemaker season 2 has already been confirmed, with Gunn set to write and direct all episodes.

Although Peacemaker began streaming on HBO on January 13, 2022, the show was not released worldwide at the same time. Earlier this month, Gunn took to Twitter to announce that Peacemaker will finally air in the UK after previously being unavailable. The entirety of the Peacemaker series landed on the Sky Max channel as well as the Sky's streaming service, Now TV, on March 22.

Gunn recently shared new Peacemaker behind-the-scenes set images to celebrate the HBO series' release in the UK. In one image, John Cena as the titular hero wields his trademark oversized pistol as he stares wide-eyed into the camera. In front of Cena lies a dead man with the hero's dove-adorned shield impaled in the man's head. The second image shows both Peacemaker and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) in full costume with bows in hand as they pose for the camera. Check out the images below.

The wait is finally over for DC fans in the UK who have spent months avoiding spoilers so they can finally enjoy the acclaimed The Suicide Squad spinoff series. Peacemaker currently stands as the best reviewed DCEU project since the cinematic universe's inception with Man of Steel in 2013. The series sits at a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average audience score at 88%. Peacemaker's critics score places just ahead of Patty Jenkins' 2017 Wonder Woman, which holds an impressive 93% fresh rating.

With Gunn returning to his writing and directorial duties for Peacemaker season 2 fans will most likely be pleased with what the director has in store for them as the story continues. Before creating two smash hits for Warner Bros./DC, Gunn wrote and directed two MCU blockbuster films with the Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Along with multiple DC projects on his plate, Gunn will also be completing his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and a Disney+ Guardians exclusive holiday special that is said to be part of the MCU canon. Gunn has firmly placed himself as a defining voice in both the DCEU and MCU superhero franchises and will be dictating the direction of their futures. Thankfully, now UK audiences can finally enjoy Peacemaker as the latest Gunn project for themselves.
