James Gunn's Peacemaker show brings John Cena's peace-loving anti-hero and other characters from The Suicide Squad back, although several of the film's biggest stars have yet to be confirmed. The Suicide Squad's post-credits scene directly set up Gunn's HBO Max series set in the DC Extended Universe. The reveal that Peacemaker survived the movie's ending explained how his spinoff series was possible, and it also teased a few of the cast members set to appear alongside John Cena.

On top of giving the former WWE star a chance to play the DC villain, Peacemaker is confirmed to feature several other characters from The Suicide Squad. The two primary returning DCEU characters are Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (Steve Agee). They are both members of Amanda Waller's ARGUS team monitoring Task Force X, and they've now found themselves involved in the spinoff show. Although Peacemaker includes several new DCEU characters, there is also a lingering question about the possibility of the surviving Task Force X teammates showing up.

The Suicide Squad's ending allowed Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), and King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) to leave Waller's control freely. It wasn't until the credits finished rolling that viewers knew Weasel (Sean Gunn) survived the film's opening too. If any Task Force X characters from The Suicide Squad are returning for Peacemaker, it would have to be one of the surviving members, barring a flashback. James Gunn could cleverly write just about any of these DC villains into the spinoff show, but they all wouldn't fit with the direction of the story naturally. Since The Suicide Squad's ending showed them going off to enjoy their freedom, many of them wouldn't immediately rush back to the supervillain world.

Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Steve Agee and Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, The Suicide Squad

If one of The Suicide Squad's surviving characters does appear in Peacemaker, Bloodsport might be the most likely option. Idris Elba's character left the movie believing he killed Peacemaker. Since the events of Peacemaker could once again bring Cena's character some public attention, Bloodsport could learn that he's still alive after all and go on the hunt. This would potentially allow them to have a rematch at some point during the series. Other than Bloodsport, the next best character who could return is Viola Davis' Amanda Waller. She is still in charge of Peacemaker's next world-saving mission, so an appearance would be natural.

Even though none of the other main The Suicide Squad characters are confirmed to appear in Peacemaker, it is quite likely that at least one of them will. Gunn has teased that at least one other character from the movie will appear. It appears that this will happen in Peacemaker's top-secret finale. This could be when Bloodsport makes a return, which could either set him up for a role in Peacemaker season 2 or to star in his own HBO Max spinoff show.
