James Gunn spills the tea on who is the worst dancer in Peacemaker's opening credits. Fresh off joining the DCEU with last summer's R-rated The Suicide Squad, Gunn has continued to make his mark on the superhero franchise with the HBO Max series Peacemaker. The show centers on John Cena's Suicide Squad character, a trained killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost, even if it means murdering children. When viewers last saw Peacemaker, he was recovering from his nearly-fatal wounds in the post-credits scene of The Suicide Squad.

Almost dying isn't enough to keep him out of action, as Peacemaker the show pulls the conflicted anti-hero (real name Christopher Smith) into another world-saving mission. Peacemaker joins up with a new team for the mysteriously named Project Butterfly, which may or may not prove to be weirder than The Suicide Squad's Project Starfish. There will be 8 episodes in Peacemaker's first season, with the first three now available for fans' streaming pleasure on HBO Max.

As those who have already checked out Peacemaker will know, the opening credits feature a wild dance number in its opening credits. Ahead of the show's premiere, Screen Rant got the chance to chat with Gunn about what fans can expect from the show, and he shared some secrets about the making of the sequence. Namely, Gunn - in good humor - revealed who is the least skilled dancer among the Peacemaker cast. He said:

They were great. The dancers were great. Some are better than others, but overall, besides Robert Patrick -- I love him. He's definitely not the next Baryshnikov. --  but besides Robert, who you can see messing up in some of our wide shots, which is very funny to me, they were fantastic dancers and some of them were really great. Jenn, who is a gymnast, was probably the best. But Danielle and Annie, who plays Song, were fantastic. Chukwudi was fantastic. Steve Agee was surprisingly really good. They were all really quite good dancers. John, he was overall great. It was fun.

Auggie Smith looking annoyed in Peacemaker

It's perhaps fitting that Robert Patrick is the Peacemaker star who struggles the most with dancing. He plays Auggie Smith, Chris' cruel dad. Gunn has warned that Peacemaker's father is even worse than Star-Lord's from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which says a lot when one remembers Ego tried to kill Star-Lord. Patrick puts on a perfectly steely performance in Peacemaker, and while no one would try to suggest he's anything like the cold-hearted Auggie, the Smith patriarch likely isn't much of a dancer himself.

Peacemaker also stars Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Chukwudi Iwuji, Freddie Stroma, and Danielle Brooks. Much like The Suicide Squad, Gunn has assembled a unique and compelling cast, and the adventure has only just begun. As demonstrated through its opening credits, Peacemaker isn't anything like the many comic book shows on television right now. That means there are bound to be numerous surprises ahead. Gunn hinted his favorite episodes are later in the first season, so now is the time to tune in and enjoy this ride.
