James Gunn reveals he has a lot more material for Peacemaker's profane Aquaman joke, courtesy of Ezra Miller. Earlier this year, HBO Max's Peacemaker made a case for it being named the biggest show of 2022 with its offbeat humor, surprisingly nuanced character development, and a truly excellent opening credits sequencePeacemaker is Gunn's second DCEU project, and it was born from his first, last summer's big screen extravaganza The Suicide Squad. The streaming show focuses on John Cena's peace-obsessed anti-hero, this time as he joins a new team of quirky characters.

Peacemaker season 1 came to a close in February and packed in a few surprises with its finale. While the premiere already gave audiences a DCEU cameo with Viola Davis' Amanda Waller, the Peacemaker finale took things even further by featuring actual members of the Justice League. Wonder Woman and Superman were both present, albeit via stunt doubles; Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller both made proper onscreen appearances as Aquaman and the Flash, respectively. When the Justice League arrives late for the final showdown, Peacemaker curses them out and makes a crack about Aquaman having... relations with fish.

According to Gunn, he actually has a lot more material for that joke. During a recent chat with Total Film (via GamesRadar+), Gunn revealed he has some unused content from the Justice League cameo that specifically involves the Aquaman fish quip. "I have tons of stuff I didn't use," he explained. "Ezra went on – and I'm not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish. It was really funny." Evidently, Barry Allen had a lot more to say on set than he actually got out in the Peacemaker finale.

Peacemaker Flash justice League Cameo Miller

The Peacemaker Aquaman joke has taken on a life of its own now, with Momoa even being teasingly confronted about it at the premiere for The Batman. Gunn has released plenty of behind the scenes content for Peacemaker, and now the question is if he will ever share more of Miller's on-set riffing about Aquaman and fish. One has to hope he will, particularly since there may not be another way for anyone to see it. Perhaps if enough fans ask him for it, Gunn will share some of that unused material.

Peacemaker is set to return for season 2 on HBO Max, and it can be assumed it will feature several more DCEU connections even as it continues to forge its own path forward. Gunn recently hinted he already knows what Peacemaker's emotional journey will be in season 2, but also confirmed he's still working out the plot details. Because of that, it might be a while before fans get to return to this odd, seriously messed-up world. One way Gunn could ease the wait for Peacemaker season 2 would be to release all of Miller's Aquaman jokes. Just saying.
