James Gunn hypes Peacemaker's upcoming panel at DC FanDome with a new behind-the-scenes image. Peacemaker is the first spin-off to The Suicide Squad, Gunn's DC feature debut, which he directed during his brief firing from Guardians of the Galaxy. The show focuses on John Cena's eponymous oddball antihero, who is described as a “douchey version of Captain America.” Cena's Peacemaker was supposed to have died during the events of The Suicide Squad, but in the film's end-credits scene, it was revealed that he was still alive, although he was comatose in a hospital. Now, Peacemaker will see the character recover from his injuries, and jump back into action for an important mission with Amanda Waller's ARGUS associates.

One of the reasons why Peacemaker is so hotly anticipated is because Gunn is attached to the spin-off show in various capacities. He is obviously the showrunner, and apart from that, he has also directed five and written all eight episodes for the series. With such immersive creative involvement, it's no surprise that Gunn has been at the forefront for Peacemaker's marketing campaign. The multi-hyphenate director-producer-writer will lead a panel for the series at the upcoming DC FanDome on Saturday, October 16, 2021, and to promote that, he has been sharing multiple teasers, posters, and featurettes. Now, he has unveiled another piece of promotional material from the show, and it gives an idea about the kind of fun he had with his team while filming Peacemaker.

Today, Gunn posted an image to Twitter, hyping fans up for Peacemaker's panel at DC FanDome tomorrow. The picture is a BTS shot of the series cast as they pose together for a selfie while filming a scene for the show. All key cast members, including Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, and Chukwudi Iwuji are there in the picture with Gunn, and they seem to be having a gala time filming the show. Cena and Stroma's superhero costumes aren't visible in the picture, but fans have already had a look at them through previous first-look images and clips from Peacemaker. Take a look at the photo below:

Right now, plot details on Peacemaker aren't fully clear. What fans do know about the show, however, is the fact that it's set after the events of The Suicide Squad, and it explores the titular anti-hero's origins as he strives to "achieve peace at any cost." Peacemaker won't even think twice before killing innocent people as long as it guarantees him his idea of peace. His jingoistic tendencies were referenced previously in the original movie, and now the spin-off series will expand on them more as it tracks the anti-hero on his journey of forming a black ops team with Waller's teammates and preventing some sort of disaster.

The new BTS image is definitely a quick and effective way to remind fans that they are in for a delightful surprise with Peacemaker's panel at the DC FanDome tomorrow. Gunn has been hyping up the event for quite some time now, and given his interest, it is likely that the panel will deliver some quality information about the upcoming show. A teaser trailer has already been promised, and hopefully, a release date for Peacemaker will also be announced during the panel. Besides that, viewers can also expect to catch a glimpse of the series' supporting cast, which includes Nhut Lee as the superhero Judomaster. With just one day to go, the anticipation for the DC FanDome is at an all-time high.
