James Gunn makes everyone's Sunday brighter by sharing behind the scenes pictures of the filming of Peacemaker's opening credits dance number. As of last Thursday, the DCEU's latest project has arrived, and for the first time, it isn't a movie. Peacemaker is the highly anticipated spin-off to Gunn's The Suicide Squad and follows John Cena's anti-hero from the film. Gunn created, wrote, and directed episodes for the series, which explores Peacemaker's life after The Suicide Squad. Having recovered from his near-fatal wounds, Peacemaker has now joined up with another team for a world-saving mission.

HBO Max only released the first three episodes on Thursday, but there is already plenty for fans to discuss. From a profane insult against Batman to a surprise appearance from Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), it's clear Peacemaker is far from a standard superhero show. Nothing demonstrated that more than the show's opening credits, which feature the entire cast executing a hilariously choreographed dance number to Wig Wam's "Do Ya Wanna Taste It." Peacemaker's opening credits dance was so well-received, HBO Max released it as its own video later.

Now that a good number of fans have gotten the chance to watch Peacemaker's opening for themselves, Gunn has given everyone a peek behind the scenes at how the number came together. On social media, Gunn posted two BTS pictures, giving fans a sideways view at the epic dance scene. "Catch #Peacemaker today on @hbomax!" he reminded everyone. You can see his post down below.

Considering how Peacemaker is a ruthless killer who offed one of The Suicide Squad's biggest characters, one might not expect his solo series to kick off with a lighthearted dance number. Of course, that's one of the appeals of Peacemaker: It reveals unexpected layers to its morally grey lead character. The opening credits feel so in line with Gunn's typical style that fans can't help but appreciate it; it's just more proof that even though Peacemaker takes place within the heavily-controlled world of the DCEU, Gunn's creative voice still shines through.

The opening dance might be the only routine fans can expect from Peacemaker's first season, but Gunn still has hope he'll get to make season 2. No one quite knows what that looks like, but that's also because Peacemaker is only just getting started. Gunn hinted episode 8 has some major surprises that few people know about, which means fans should stick with the show all the way until the end to get the full experience. If the opening credits are any indication, Peacemaker isn't a show many will be able to predict.
