John Cena's troubled superhero saves the world from an alien invasion in a trailer for Peacemaker episode 4. Yesterday marked the 3-episode premiere of Peacemaker on HBO Max, a spinoff of James Gunn's film, The Suicide Squad, and the first television series set within DC's Extended Universe. The show centers on its titular character also known as Christopher Smith, a killer paradoxically obsessed with peace who has been called everything from the world's worst superhero to a "douchey Captain America."

The show picks up with Peacemaker after he has emerged from a coma due to being shot in the neck by Bloodsport (Idris Elba). Peacemaker is soon given a new mission titled Project Butterfly and a team that includes The Suicide Squad holdovers Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (Steve Agee), A.R.G.U.S. agent's who are given the task as punishment for betraying Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). The team also happens to include Waller's daughter, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), and is led by Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji).

Now, a new trailer for Peacemaker episode 4 previews the next chapter in the DC show (via TV Promos). In keeping with its crude sense of humor, the episode is appropriately titled "The Choad Less Traveled." The trailer also features the self-proclaimed superhero, Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), who seemed to officially join the black ops squad in episode 3, as well as Peacemaker's racist father, Auggie (Robert Patrick), who was revealed to be the white supremacist leader, White Dragon, at the end of episode 2. The trailer serves as a preview for the events of next week's episode as well as the rest of the season to come. Peacemaker visits his father in prison who was framed for the murder of a butterfly. White Dragon will more than likely act as a secondary villain throughout the remaining episodes, offering Peacemaker the chance to redeem his troubled past. Judomaster (Nhut Le) is also still alive after his run-in with Economos. While details regarding Project Butterfly have mostly been kept from Peacemaker and the audience, this trailer reveals they can use any lifeform as a host, save for a chihuahua.

Throughout its first three episodes, Peacemaker has managed to introduce several adversaries for the A.R.G.U.S. team to go up against while showcasing Gunn's signature stylized violence and sense of humor. So far, it seems to be a worthy followup to the director's critically acclaimed Suicide Squad movie, and the show will only likely intensify in the coming weeks. Peacemaker airs new episodes every Thursday on HBO Max.
