A newly released clip for HBO's upcoming DCEU series, Peacemakerintroduces fans to the beloved antihero's newest teammates. The highly anticipated series will follow on directly from the events of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad that released earlier this year and will see John Cena return as Peacemaker himself, after his stand-out performance in the DC quasi-sequel established the character as a firm fan favorite. The series is currently slated to debut on HBO Max on January 13, with episodes expected to release weekly on the streaming service.

After The Suicide Squad's exciting post-credit scene ultimately confirmed a very exciting future for Peacemaker, several teasers have been released in the run-up to the series' release that appeared to confirm that Cena's silver-helmeted hero will be working alongside a brand new 'squad' this time around. Briefly introduced within The Suicide Squad as the team working under the command of Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis), Peacemaker will now be joined by the team at A.R.G.U.S (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans) on his newly assigned mission to "save the f**king world." HBO Max recently dropped a series of character posters for Peacemaker and his new team, including the hero's pet eagle, Eagly.

Now, TVPromos has released a brand-new clip that gives fans a chance to get a little more acquainted with Peacemaker's newest teammates. While DC fans may be familiar with the characters in some capacity, the clip offers a formal introduction to the likes of Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), as well as the team's newest recruit, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks). The clip also offers a little more background on Peacemaker's upcoming mission, providing more context as to why the antihero has been recruited for the job. Check out the clip below.

The clip references "Project Butterfly," a name reminiscent of the mission that became the key focus of The Suicide Squad, Project Starfish, a similarity noted by Peacemaker right before he asks Murn if he can get a jetpack for this new mission. One noticeably absent character from this latest teaser is Vigilante, played by Bridgerton star Freddie Stroma. Also working alongside Peacemaker, the aspiring superhero looks set to act as quite the chaotic counterpart to Cena's twisted but bizarrely loveable character.

While Peacemaker may be the titular character of this upcoming series, it certainly appears as though the A.R.G.U.S team will play a key role throughout as they accompany the antihero on his newest mission. Gunn recently teased that he may even have more spin-offs planned after the release of Peacemaker, so there's a definite possibility that this series could set up some future DCEU storylines with these exciting new characters that take place in The Suicide Squad universe. As for now, fans do not have long to wait as the release of Peacemaker is now just weeks away.
