A new batch of character posters for DC's upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker highlights the main character (played by John Cena) and the supporting cast. Peacemaker was first seen in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, where he was a part of Task Force X. The film saw a group of villains and anti-heroes go to the island of Corto Maltese to stop Starro, an alien hivemind starfish. Peacemaker was seemingly killed by Bloodsport (Idris Elba), but a post-credits scene revealed he was alive and recovering in a hospital. There, members of Amanda Waller's (Viola Davis) team are seen talking among themselves, saying that they need Peacemaker's help for a mission.

Set after the events of The Suicide Squad, the show will follow the show will also explore the origins of the "peace-loving" anti-hero. Most of the plot details are currently under wraps, but it is known that Peacemaker will cross paths with Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), a crimefighter than can quickly heal from injuries. He will also encounter his father (Robert Patrick), which will likely give more insight into how Peacemaker became who he is. The show also stars Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Chukwudi Iwuji.

Now, HBO Max has released a new series of posters showing off the main characters in Peacemaker. In addition to Peacemaker, there are posters for Emilia Harcourt (Holland) and John Economos (Agee), the two agents from The Suicide Squad, Vigilante, Leota Adebayo (Brooks), and Clemson Murn (Iwuji). Peacemaker's pet bald eagle, Eagly, also gets a cute poster. Check out all of them below:

The posters do a good job depicting the characters' personalities and hinting at what they'll be like in the show. They're all set against the same bullet-riddled American flag backdrop, but each character's pose and accessories say a lot about their personalities. There are hints of the series' humor, too, with Vigilante clutching a plastic flamingo and John in the middle of eating a burger. Gunn has indicated that these six characters (or seven, including Eagly) are the main cast for the show, so it makes sense that HBO wants to highlight them.

Gunn has also hinted that he has other Suicide Squad spinoffs in the works. It seems likely that they will also take the form of an HBO Max TV series if they follow Peacemaker's pattern of focusing on a single member of Task Force X, though a follow-up film isn't hard to imagine, either. News about more spinoffs isn't likely to surface until after Peacemaker releases, though, and fans can look forward to the first three episodes on January 13.
