James Gunn's Peacemaker TV spin-off from The Suicide Squad has its first batch of reviews, and its Rotten Tomatoes score is one of the best out of the current DC TV shows. The first DCEU spin-off show brings back John Cena as Peacemaker along with other characters from The Suicide Squad, and, if the trailers are any indication, it's about to be one of the craziest DC shows yet.

DC Comics has a long history on TV with numerous classic shows in both live-action and animation, but it wasn't until Arrow on the CW, followed by The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman that they really began exploring a shared TV continuity outside of Bruce Timm's connected universe of animated TV shows and movies. Now, DC has multiple separate live-action shared universes on the big and small screen after launching Titans and Doom Patrol (both now on HBO Max), The Batman is getting several connected spin-off shows, and the DCEU is also about to make the jump to the small screen with Peacemaker.

Based on early reviews, the DCEU's first step into a series format is off to a good start, as Peacemaker's 90 percent Rotten Tomatoes score is the third-highest score of all current DC TV shows on the CW and HBO Max. Some of the CW shows come close with multiple scores in the high 80s like The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which both sit at 89 percent, and Supergirl and Superman and Lois both at 88 percent. While Peacemaker barely beats out those three CW shows, its 4 points lower than DC's Stargirl at 94 percent, and  Doom Patrol is even farther ahead of the pack as the show with the highest score at 97 percent.

Peacemaker currently only has 20 reviews total, so its score could still swing up or down by a fair margin after the premiere, but as it stands, its score is above the 88 percent average score from the CW and HBO Max DC shows. TV review scores on Rotten Tomatoes are a little different than movie scores, though, and tend to be influenced way more by how it hits with its target audience since TV and streaming shows traditionally aren't quite as monolithic as movies, which can be helpful, but can also result in scores that are harder to compare as apples to apples depending on audience expectations, the network it airs on, the budget, and etc.

Regardless, Peacemaker is off to a good start in Rotten Tomatoes, and with some big moments being teased, it'll be curious to see if it holds on to its number three slot, or if it's able to catch Stargirl or Doom Patrol after more reviews are in. At the very least, it continues DC's tradition of strong television programming, setting a high bar for more small-screen DC content.
