Along with the titular character, Peacemaker was filled with a lot of entertaining and complicated characters. Even in the world of costumed crime-fighters and aliens invading earth, these characters are able to stand out with their own personalities, some of which are more likable than others.

But while audiences might get an idea of the kinds of people these characters are, they can sometimes make a surprising change. Whether it is character growth or just a moment of them acting out unusually, these quotes from Peacemaker show an unexpected side of the show's heroes, villains, and everyone in between.

Auggie

"If You Want To Breathe Underwater Then This Is The One For You."

Auggie Smith looking annoyed in Peacemaker

Peacemaker's father, Auggie, is easily the most unlikable character in the show. He is a racist man and an abusive father who never misses an opportunity to insult and demean his son in some truly hurtful ways.

But after Peacemaker is released from prison, Auggie shows him all the high-tech helmets he has designed for him and appears to be helpful. Of course, the moment is brief as Auggie seems to realize he is being somewhat nice and quickly tells Peacemaker how little he cares about him.

Detective Fitzgibbon

"Wouldn't Want to Be Ya."

Peacemaker Larry Fitzgibbon Hamburglar

Though Detective Fitzgibbon often takes a secondary role to his partner Detective Song, he still proves himself to be an honest and intelligent cop. He is able to see through the deception being presented to them and get to the bottom of the investigation quite quickly.

But he seems to have a momentary loss of his intelligence when confronting Auggie in prison. After Song delivers a clever insult to the racist, she dismisses him with "See ya," before Fitzgibbon unnecessarily adds "Wouldn't want to be ya," which is a lot more buffoonish than would be expected of him.

Locke

"I Was Too Late."

Peacemaker Locke Hamburglar

Though his role is relatively small, Locke establishes himself as a pretty despicable villain in the series. He is a former colleague of Murn who is tasked with helping to keep the police investigation away from Peacemaker. But he seems to just be looking for an excuse to kill people.

After murdering several police officers in cold blood, Locke does his best to not seem like the ruthless killer when Song and Fitzgibbon come to investigate. He puts on his best sad face and laments not being able to save them which is out of character yet still creepy since it is quite clearly a lie.

Judomaster

"You Have No Idea."

Peacemaker Finale Judomaster Cheeto

Despite his diminutive size, Judomaster is probably the best fighter on Peacemaker. He impressively takes on the likes of Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Harcourt and delivers an epic beating each time.

In fact, Judomaster seems to only live for the purpose of fighting. He is always looking for the next battle and seems uninterested in much else. Hearing him talk even seems out of character, but the fact that he attempts to stop the fight and reason with Peacemaker is quite surprising, even more so because he tries to warn his supposed enemy.

Economos

"Economos Mother******!"

John Economos on his computer in Peacemaker

While Economos provides the heroes' team with valuable tech support, his helpfulness pretty much ends there. He is not a fighter by any means, and he spends most of the show screaming in fear to all of the madness going on around him.

However, in a very surprising moment, Economos is actually the first one who is able to take down Judomaster. While hitting him with a car and then a tire iron isn't to most noble of defeats, Economos suddenly is filled with confidence and yells "Economos motherf*****!" like he is the ultimate badass.

Murn

"Things I've Done Make Me Sad."

Clemson Murn looking menacing in Peacemaker

When first introduced, Murn is shown to be a very serious and emotionally distant leader of the team. He is almost robotic in the way he approaches the job and deals with the other teammates. There is also a reference to his dark and less-than-heroic life as a mercenary.

However, in a rare moment when Murn lets his guard down, he explains that his actions in the past have filled him with remorse and sadness. It is surprisingly honest and open while also being a far cry from the killer he is described as being. It also hints at the truth about him.

Adebayo

Peacemaker's Leota Adebayo

Similar to Peacemaker himself, Adebayo is someone struggling with the pressures of an overbearing and less-than-moral parent. She is the daughter of Amanda Waller, the corrupt and brutal bureaucrat behind Task Force X.

While Waller pushes her daughter to be more ruthless in order to be strong, Adebayo is an inherently good person. However, in a rare moment where she lets her mother's voice get in her head, Adebayo manipulates Vigilante into attempting to kill Auggie which shows she is her mother's daughter to at least some small degree.

Harcourt

"Emilia."

Jennifer Holland Emilia Harcourt Peacemaker

Much like Murn, Harcourt is a very professional soldier who keeps her mind on the mission. She is also not much of a people person and is uninterested in making friends, especially with the other members of the team who she openly disdains.

But when she made her general disgust for Peacemaker known very early on, Harcourt does gradually warm up to him. Her cold exterior towards him melts away at one point when she tells him her first name. While it might not seem like much, it is a big step in opening up for her.

Vigilante

"I Think I Might Have Made Things Worse."

Vigilante aka Adrian in the car in Peacemaker

Vigilante was the breakout character of the show as he was a darkly hilarious "crime fighter" who seemed to be totally detached from the world. Unlike Peacemaker and his arc of redemption, Vigilante doesn't seem to realize how terrible some of his actions have been.

In fact, there is really only one moment in which Vigilante seems to have the self-awareness to recognize his own mistakes. After being released from prison and failing to kill Auggie, Vigilante shows some vulnerability as he admits to Harcourt that he made things worse.

Peacemaker

"I Don't Think I Really Care About The Dove Of Peace. I Think I Just Said That Because I Don't Want To Kill People Anymore."

A wounded Peacemaker looking serious

When introduced in The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker insists that he loves peace so much that he is willing to kill as many men, women, and children as he needs to in order to achieve that. The show softens him as a character somewhat while still insisting he is ruthless.

However, the first signs that Peacemaker might not be the villain he was presented as come when he makes a confession to Harcourt. After making a big deal about not being about to kill without the "dove of peace" on his weapons, he admits that was an excuse to hide the fact that he doesn't want to kill anymore.
