It looks like Green Arrow and his allies have found themselves on the wrong side of the extremely violent Peacemaker. A new cover showcases the potential rivalry brewing between the Arrow Family and Chrisopher Smith's expanding team.With Green Arrow's upcoming series on the horizon, news has been slowly trickling in about what readers can expect from the Emerald Archer's next adventure. On Twitter, Green Arrow writer Joshua Williamson keyed fans in on what's coming for Oliver and his friends by posting a cover for the miniseries' third issue. The cover comes from Sean Izaakse and Romulo Fajardo Jr. and shows the Arrow Family facing off against some familiar faces.
Peacemaker holds a gun to Arsenal's face as Roy Harper responds in kind with an arrow ready to fire at Smith. Black Canary prepares for a fistfight with Peacemaker's new partner Peacewrecker, who wields a nasty looking baton. As the battle begins, Green Arrow stands in the foreground, oddly unaware of the battle his family is about to engage with.
Peacemaker is Going to War Against Green Arrow's Family
What the beef is between Green Arrow's allies and the Peacemaker crew is unknown for now, but the stage for the fight has already been set up as part of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. Like the rest of the Justice League, Green Arrow was killed by Pariah in his bid to recreate the infinite multiverse. And when the team was brought back to confront the Dark Army, Green Arrow was strangely missing from the action. As Oliver Queen's family began a search for the hero, Amanda Waller consulted the mysterious collective known as the Light to begin the process of eradicating the world's metahumans. For this new mission, Waller has drafted Peacemaker, along with a similar character known as Peacewrecker.
While the exact circumstances between the confrontation are unknown, any fan of Green Arrow or Peacemaker can tell a fight between them was inevitable. Peacemaker is someone who fights and kills to attain peace no matter the cost, often serving as the lethal arm of the government. Oliver Queen, on the other hand, is extremely left-wing and would naturally come into conflict with someone acting in such an oppressive fashion. It’s no shock that the two are about to face off, but one may wonder who will be left standing.
Will Peacemaker Kill the Arrow Family?
If Smith really is willing to kill to attain peace and Amanda Waller is declaring war on the DC Universes heroes and villains, then Peacemaker is more than likely about to become a bigger problem than just Green Arrow’s. But in their search for Oliver, it’s possible that the Arrow Family will be the first to discover whatever mission Peacemaker is on, igniting their confrontation with one another. Will Arsenal, Black Canary, or even Green Arrow be able to survive the encounter? They’d better be prepared because unlike Green Arrow, Peacemaker plays for keeps.
