Paul Bettany admits he currently isn't contracted for any Marvel projects beyond WandaVision. Bettany joined the MCU right when it first began, lending his voice to Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) trusty A.I. system JARVIS. It wasn't until 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron that Bettany truly appeared onscreen as the synthezoid Vision. Though Vision later perished (twice) in Avengers: Infinity War, he somehow found new life in the Disney+ series WandaVision earlier this year. Bettany appeared alongside Elizabeth Olsen for the show, which is currently drumming up awards buzz.

As WandaVision revealed, the Vision present throughout the show isn't actually the one from past MCU installments. He was born out of Wanda Maximoff's (Olsen) grief and, in a tragic twist, disappeared at the end of the series when she dispersed her magic. At the same time, yet another version of Vision was left to roam the MCU, as SWORD's White Vision flew off into the sky in the WandaVision finale. Many viewers had questions about where White Vision would appear next, but it remains to be seen what will happen with him.

Even Bettany is in the dark about his MCU future. While speaking to The Playlist about WandaVision, Bettany was asked if, in regards to his continued survival as White Vision, he always knew there might be more to his story. The actor admitted that he still doesn't know what the future holds, and what's more, he doesn't even have a contract with Marvel right now. Bettany said:

Oh no, no. I don’t have a contract. I don’t know that. I don’t know that at all. And all that I do know is, as far as this sort of traunch of press goes, it’s for an Emmy push, which is for a limited series. So it doesn’t look like that happening again. I mean, I guess it would be difficult to introduce White Vision and not deal with him in some way, but we have not discussed that.

Vision in WandaVision

Marvel is often notoriously tight-lipped about what the future holds for their actors. Most recently, those like Anthony Mackie and Tom Hiddleston have stated they don't know what's next for their Marvel characters, even though the door seems open for them to continue. WandaVision's lack of a definitive ending for White Vision seemed to indicate there was more in store for him, and that still might be the case. However, Marvel is keeping that a secret for the time being.

Some might be quick to assume Bettany is lying about what's ahead for him in the MCU, as actors have a habit of downplaying certain things until an official announcement is made. While that is possible, it's also just as likely Bettany is telling the truth. In many respects, WandaVision felt like an end to Bettany's MCU arc as well as his contract. White Vision could easily bring him back, but until Marvel actually confirms that, everything remains up in the air.
