Vision actor Paul Bettany says that Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest movie of all time, but that it won't hold that title for long, because next year's Avengers 4 will become the biggest movie of all time.

Since he has one of the six Infinity Stones stuck in his head, Vision played a key role in Infinity War, with the rest of the Avengers trying desperately to keep him out of Thanos' hands. Black Panther's sister, Shuri, found a way to remove the Mind Stone without killing Vision, so that it could be destroyed, but before she could complete the process she was interrupted by the Black Order's attack on Wakanda. Ultimately, Thanos removed the Stone by force, killing Vision in the process.

In the special feature Beyond the Battle: Wakanda (check out an exclusive clip), Bettany praised directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who first burst onto the Marvel scene with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and then went on to make Captain America: Civil War, before being handed this pair of Avengers sequels. "They are extraordinary technicians," Bettany said. "They are making the biggest movie of all time, with the biggest movie of all time right after it."

There's no doubt that the Russos had a ridiculously difficult task on their hands with Infinity War, and one that was unprecedented in the history of franchise filmmaking. They not only had to bring together superheroes from more than half a dozen different sub-franchises within the MCU, and follow up on the story arcs established in those solo movies, but also deliver the culmination of ten years and eighteen movies' worth of build-up.

With a dizzying number of characters and sub-plots taking place simultaneously at multiple locations across the galaxy, Infinity War had the potential to become the hottest mess in the history of cinema. However, both fans and critics were generally blown away by the finished product, which managed to find a delicate balance amid all the chaos, and Infinity War easily became the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time, with a total box office take of more than $2 billion.

However, Infinity War also finished on a devastating cliffhanger, meaning that Avengers 4 will have to do all of the things mentioned above and clean up the mess left behind by Thanos' finger snap. It will also bring in even more characters, including the previously-absent Ant-Man and Hawkeye. Oh, and it will also have to usher in the next phase of the MCU, which is currently largely a mystery. No pressure, Russos.
