Paizo has announced that the Pathfinder tabletop RPG will soon receive its own digital platform, in the form of Pathfinder Nexus, which will help DMs and players alike run their games. Tabletop RPGs debuted in the era before the Internet, which meant that players needed to use paper, pencils, and dice for their games, as well as any rulebooks, maps, or minis that they needed.

Today, however, everyone has a mobile device with access to the Internet. There are a number of apps and websites available that can make it easier to run games, ranging from digital character sheets that always have their progress saved, to random number generators that can act like dice in a pinch, or even rules compendiums, which make it easy to find specific rules or stats when they are needed. Many people still prefer to use pencil and paper for their games, but having access to digital resources can help things run more smoothly.

The second edition of Pathfinder is going to have its own digital platform for players to use. Paizo has revealed that it has signed a multi-year deal with the developers of Demiplane, to create Pathfinder Nexus. Demiplane is the name of an existing service that makes it easy for people to play tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade, through text or streaming. The same team behind Demiplane is working on Pathfinder Nexus, which will be dedicated to the second edition of Pathfinder. Pathfinder Nexus is due to launch in early 2022, with pre-orders going live today, which grant early access to the digital reader that is part of the service.

Pathfinder Nexus intends to have a number of features, like a game compendium, digital reader, character builder, interactive digital character sheet, and a video chat program with integrated tools that will make it easy for the group to communicate with each other. Demiplane has created a roadmap of content updates that will be added to Pathfinder Nexus over the next few years, in order to make the service even better.

Many new players were given a taste of the world of Golarion, in the recent Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. While Wrath of the Righteous used the ruleset of the original edition of Pathfinder, it showed the epic scope of the adventures that can take place in its setting. Pathfinder Nexus aims to make playing the new edition of the game easier than ever, with the entire multiverse of the game available at the players' fingertips.
