Warning: This article contains spoilers for the finale of Party Down season 3Two of the producers behind Party Down have discussed the possibility of the show being renewed for season 4. The cult comedy series, which follows the exploits of a group of caterers trying to make it in Hollywood, ran for two seasons on Starz between 2009 and 2010 before being canceled due to low viewership. However, the show gained a cult following in the intervening years, leading Starz to renew the show for a third season reuniting the original cast, which ran between February 24 and March 31.

Deadline recently interviewed co-creator John Enbom and star/EP Adam Scott about the Party Down revival at their Contenders TV event. When asked if there would be another long wait before the show gets renewed for season 4, Enbom said "probably." Scott was slightly more positive, saying that they "would do anything to work with [Starz] some more." Read their full quotes below:

John Enbom: [Will it take just as long?] Probably. But hopefully [it’ll come] sooner.

Adam Scott: We would love to do more, and Starz has been so incredible with the show this season that we would do anything to work with them some more. It would be fun.

Will Party Down Season 4 Happen?

It's unclear if Enbom's "probably" was facetious or honest. However, it does not lend hope that Party Down season 3 performed much better than the show's original run. However, many services allow 28 days to pass before they count viewership numbers, and it has only been 17 days since the season finale aired, so there is still time for the numbers to reach an appropriate benchmark for renewal.

There has been a precedent for certain reboot series surviving beyond just a single season. In fact, Party Down star Megan Mullally has already starred in one, as her reboot sitcom Will & Grace lasted for three additional seasons after relaunching in 2017. However, that is among the longest that any comedy reboot has run, and it's unlikely that Party Down would possess quite the audience pull as a network sitcom.

If Party Down does get renewed, there is plenty of material for the show to cover. While it seemed like Henry (Scott) was going to give acting another shot, he ended up deciding to embrace his life and mentoring the kids in his theater productions. Armed with a new love for the life he's living, he reunites with his ex-flame Casey (Lizzy Caplan), who is about to quit her job on a lucrative TV show, potentially bringing her back into his orbit should season 4 come to fruition.
