Adam Scott confirms that the long-awaited Party Down season 3 is finished filming. Created by Jon Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, and Paul Rudd, Party Down premiered in 2009 on Starz. The sitcom series starred Scott (Severance), Ken Marino (Wet Hot American Summer), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars), Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks), and Jane Lynch (Glee) as caterers who are struggling to get their big breaks in Hollywood. Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus) and Megan Mulally (Will and Grace) joined the all-star cast later in the series. Despite a positive critical reception, Party Down was canceled by the network in 2010 after two seasons due to low ratings.

After its cancellation, Party Down grew to achieve cult status among its fans. Rumors of a follow-up film circled for years until Starz announced in 2021 that the beloved comedy was being revived for a six-episode third season. All of the original cast from Party Down season 1- except for Lizzy Caplan who is busy filming Fleishman Is In Trouble for FX- will return for season 3, and Jennifer Garner, Tyrell Jackson Williams, Zoë Chao, and James Marsden will be joining the cast. In addition, all four co-creators also returned for the revival. Filming for Party Down season 3 began in January.

Now there is more great news for those waiting for Party Down's return. Adam Scott revealed in an interview with Vulture that the workplace comedy's long-overdue third season has wrapped filming. The Party Down star also shared that he had "the greatest time" shooting and working with the rest of Party Down's cast and crew. Read Scott's full statement below:

We just finished on Saturday night, or Sunday morning at 3 a.m. It's going to be great ... It was a really magical month and a half or so while we were shooting ... 'Magical' is gross. I don't want to say that. It's that particular combination of people where you have the greatest time. When you're laughing and you can't really breathe — we all needed it.

Ironically, much of the cast who played aspiring Hollywood actors and writers in Party Down are now some of the biggest names in comedy. When discussions began about rebooting the series, the cast and creators were determined to see it happen even if they had to navigate everyone's busy schedules, with the notable exception of Caplan. Still, even with Caplan's absence from the show, hearing that Party Down season 3 has wrapped filming is sure to raise anticipation for the show's return.

Despite confirming the series return, Starz has yet to release many details about Party Down season 3. There has been no word on when the season will premiere or how the absence of Caplan's character Casey might play out. Perhaps, now that shooting is finished, Starz will be setting a release date soon. With anticipation for the Party Down revival so high, fans should stay on the lookout for more news about the cult series.
