Ron Swanson had some of the best quotes in Parks and RecreationHe was confident, dry, and serious. It was rare when Leslie Knope and co. saw a lighter, fun side of Ron. As viewers know, however, Ron did enjoy letting loose and having a good time — he just didn't like anyone knowing about it.

One of the things he enjoyed most was his undercover alter ego, Duke Silver. Duke was a musician who would play late at night in towns other than Pawnee so his friends and colleagues wouldn't catch on. Because Ron was so secretive about Duke it's easy to forget some things about the alter-ego.

The Duke Silver Trio

Duke doesn't perform alone. As a jazz musician, Ron has bandmates that compliment his time on the saxophone: The Duke Silver Trio. Not much is known about Ron's bandmates but it would be interesting to know if they knew who Duke really was.

Although Parks and Recreation is done, a spinoff of Ron's time with The Duke Silver Trio would be humorous.

Where To Catch A Performance

Pawnee is a small town in Indiana where everyone knows each other. The Pawnee public forums can often be judgemental and hateful because of how unhappy its people are. Because of how people react to those in the city government, Ron wasn't taking any chances with Duke Silver. He couldn't have someone from Pawnee recognize him and blow his cover.

Instead of performing in Pawnee, Ron heads over to a bar in Eagleton called Cozy's. Although Eagleton is the competing town next door, it's a place where no one would catch him.

Everyone Who Knows About Duke Silver

Ron Swanson's disguise as Duke Silver isn't groundbreaking. Instead of dressing casually, Ron wears a suit, sunglasses, and a hat. Anyone who knew Ron would easily recognize him. This is how former employee Mark Brendanawicz found out about him.

From there, Mark told Tom to go to Cozy's on Thursday night for some dirt on Ron. That's when Tom found Ron's dirty secret (and created even more nicknames for him). Eventually, April, Andy, and Diane all found out about Duke and loved this hidden secret.

The Duke's Rise & Fall

In later seasons, Eagleton merged with Pawnee and created an even larger parks and recreation department. To bring both cities together, the department wanted to throw a unity concert. Newcomer Craig Middlebrooks told Andy Dwyer to find musical talent on Thursday nights at Cozy's. This is when Andy discovered Ron as Duke.

Realizing that too many people knew his secret, Ron was ready to hang up the towel and throw away his saxophone. As one last hoorah, Ron decided to perform at the unity concert as Duke — especially since Duke was well-known in Eagleton. This was one of the more thoughtful things Ron did since he never had to out himself like that.

Double Time Sound Studio

Since Duke was a big deal in the jazz world and Pawnee was a small town, where and how did Duke produce his songs and albums? As seen in one of the best Parks and Rec. episodes, Duke recorded at Doubletime Sound Studio.

Viewers first saw the studio when the parks department promised Andy that they'd be a part of his song for Mouse Rat. Without Andy realizing it, Ron reworked Andy's song and added a saxophone solo to it. While they were at the studio, Duke's pictures were everywhere so he needed April's help in keeping his identity a secret.

Duke became a big deal jazz musician for a reason. Not only was he great at playing the saxophone, but he also knew how to sell the crowd. Before his songs, he would talk low and slow to his audience, saying the tagline: "Come love with me… and maybe we can walk through fire together" before playing.

The sensuality he oozed made most of his fanbase middle-aged women, according to April Ludgate. In one episode, April let the cat out of the bag and told Ron she knew all about Duke Silber because of her mother's obsession with him.
