For seven seasons, the characters of Parks and Recreation took viewers on a ride through Pawnee and its Parks Department. With Leslie Knope as the show's fearless leader, she introduced fans to the quirky group of workers and how connected they all are. In fact, the characters' chemistry is what made the show so successful.
Whether the characters are dating, coworkers, or just friends, the chemistry among this group is electric. Most characters are so in sync with each other on-screen and it translates to viewers. Even enemies like April and Ann, or even Jerry, and, well, everyone in the office has chemistry.
Tom Haverford & Donna Meagle
Tom and Donna were never in a romantic relationship, which is what helped their friendship blossom. Tom is often blinded by love when he's in a relationship, but he never had to worry about that with Donna. Donna didn't do relationships and enjoyed playing the field. This meant Donna and Tom could be great friends without any consequences.
This worked perfectly because the pair had wonderful chemistry. They had the same love for luxury and the same sense of humor. Together, they were magnetic.
Jennifer Barkley & Chris Traeger
Jennifer Barkley was a political strategist who met the city hall workers of Pawnee during tense times but soon saw powerful the likes of Leslie, Ben, and Chris could be. Jennifer had the shark-mentality personality type in Parks and Rec. where she went in for the kill as long as she came out on top.
In season 4, Jennifer and Chris hit it off after Leslie and Bobby's election standoff. Knowing that she was going back to Washington D.C., the two had a chemistry-filled one-night stand and left it at that. If Jennifer moved to Pawnee, these two would most likely have become an item, just because of how connected they were.
Donna Meagle & April Ludgate
One of the ways Parks and Recreation changed from season 1 to season 7 was seen in the bond between April and Donna. Considering April was just a kid when she started interning for the Pawnee government, she and Donna didn't become close until April matured.
The two had the same chemistry as sisters: they'd be sarcastic with each other and upset with each other, but at the end of the day, they loved each other. Their respect for each other only made their bond grow more.
Ann Perkins & Leslie Knope
Ann Perkins and Leslie Knope had one of the strongest forms of chemistry on the show. It took a few days for the pair to warm up to each other when they first met, but that meeting soon led to a long-lasting friendship. Ann and Leslie were #FriendGoals for most viewers and they respected and supported each other in an inspiring way.
Their chemistry was so strong that they both knew what the other was going to do or say before they did it. From gift-giving and scrapbook making to nicknames, no one had more chemistry than these two.
April Ludgate & Andy Dwyer
It took some time before April and Andy came together, but when they did, it was magic. Their chemistry wasn't strong at first, (especially since Andy was still in love with Ann), but when their friendship grew, so did their chemistry.
Once Andy realized he liked April as much as she liked him, it was game over, and despite their low points, they were soon relationship goals. They let each other become the best versions of themselves while encouraging each other to be who they really are. April and Andy never tried to change each other and it was magic.
Tom Haverford & Lucy Santo Domingo
Lucy and Tom first met at the Snakehole Lounge when Tom forgot to close his tab. For once, a woman at the bar understood Tom's sense of humor and wasn't annoyed by him. Tom was seen as one of the more annoying characters on Parks and Rec because of his selfishness and not being a team player. But Lucy wasn't put off by that.
The two began dating for a short time and their chemistry together proved to be one of Tom's more promising relationships. And while they had a short break, it was hard to put out this fire.
Leslie Knope & Ben Wyatt
Ben Wyatt was one of Leslie's major love interests in Parks and Rec. The two didn't get off on the right foot since Ben was trying to change everything the Parks and Rec. Department was doing, but that hatred for him soon grew into respect, then admiration, and finally, love.
Leslie and Ben both loved each other from afar but didn't say anything because of their jobs. However, the romantic tension between these two could be felt by all fans. Amy Poehler (Leslie) and Adam Scott (Ben) had such good chemistry while filming that it translated beautifully into the show.
Tammy Swanson & Ron Swanson
Tammy and Ron Swanson had such insane chemistry that they were married multiple times. They were toxic together and not in a healthy marriage, but they couldn't get out of it because of their sexual chemistry.
Ron's attraction to women of the name Tammy was one hidden detail about his character that his coworkers missed until everyone met Tammy 1 and Tammy 2. And while both Tammys were horrendous human beings, Ron's connection to Tammy was hard to walk away from.
Jean-Ralphio Saperstein & Tom Haverford
Jean-Ralphio and Tom Haverford were one and the same. They were best friends, business partners, and had the same likes and dislikes. They were so well-connected that they practically finished each other's sentences.
In fact, some of the funniest quotes in the series were made by Jean-Ralphio and Tom when they were together. And while their chemistry was excellent, they didn't always make the best business partners because it was hard to be serious when the other was around.
Ron Swanson & Leslie Knope
What made Ron and Leslie's relationship so strong was that they were strictly business professionals and best friends. There was never a tinge of jealousy between the two and there were never romantic feelings.
They respected each other, admired each other, and worked well together. Because of their opposing views on life in general, the two made a great duo and had tremendous chemistry.
