Parks & Recreation saw many memorable couples, and Andy Dwyer is responsible for setting up two of the best couples of the series. The 2000s saw many popular sitcoms, and one of the best TV shows of the decade was Parks & Recreation, created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur. Parks & Recreation premiered on NBC in 2009 and came to an end in 2015 after seven seasons full of memorable jokes, moments, and characters, and by the end of the series, every main character had found their right path in life.

Set in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, Parks & Recreation followed the crew at the Parks Department, led by eternal optimist Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). Through Leslie, viewers met her co-workers and closest friends, and the series shared the spotlight with each one of them, allowing the audience to get to know them quite well and follow them in their personal and professional lives. One character who ended up becoming a fan-favorite is Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt), who started as a guest star and quickly became part of the main cast, and he also ended up bringing together two of the show’s best couples.

Andy Dwyer is the reason why the events of Parks & Recreation began: he fell into the pit next to his girlfriend’s house and broke both legs, so Leslie set out to turn that pit into a park. Andy went from lazy and selfish to dim-witted with a heart of gold, and even though he was pretty clumsy and didn’t fully understand most things, he was always there for his friends whenever they needed a hand. Andy married April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) in season 3, becoming one of the most beloved and popular couples in Parks & Recreation, but Andy was also responsible for two other couples: Ron and Diane, and Tom and Lucy.

Ron Swanson’s (Nick Offerman) dating history was quite interesting, as prior to the events of the series, he had been married twice to women named Tammy, and they were both manipulative and abusive in different ways. Ron’s luck changed when he met Diane Lewis (Lucy Lawless) in Parks & Recreation season 5, when he and Andy were sent to her house to fix a pothole in front of it. Andy noticed the attraction between Ron and Diane, but as Ron had a hard time opening up, Andy left a message in chalk on the street in front of Diane’s house telling her to ask Ron out, which she did – and the rest is history.

Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) met his now-wife Lucy in Parks & Recreation season 2, but they broke up in season 3. In Parks & Recreation season 7, Tom was going through a hard time in his personal life and opened up to Andy over a round of drinks. Andy said that Tom’s future wife could be someone he already knew, and a message from Lucy arrived. Already drunk by then, Andy suggested they go to Chicago to meet up with Lucy, and they quickly bumped into her when they arrived there. Tom offered Lucy a job as manager of his restaurant, and even though Lucy had a boyfriend at the time, she agreed to return to Pawnee and eventually got back together with Tom, who she ended up marrying. Andy was one of the characters of Parks & Recreation with the biggest hearts, and while his methods were often clumsy or even dumb, his intentions were always good, and he ended up leading two of his friends towards their happiness.
