It was the second engagement for Paris in less than two years after she decided to call it quits with her ex-fiancé, Chris Zylka. After meeting Carter on Thanksgiving in 2019, Paris knew she had "finally found the one." The two remained inseparable since they started dating. They went public in January 2020 after just two months of dating. Paris says she and Carter have known each other for 15 years prior to becoming a couple. Their genuine friendship helped the hotel heiress fall for the venture capitalist.

Like Carter, Laura is a Chicago native who currently resides in California with the child. Carter reportedly signed a document acknowledging that he was the father of the child despite never taking a paternity test.
