Netflix's Paradise PD season 2 featured a crossover with Comedy Central's animated sitcom Brickleberry, and here's why the two properties interacted. Created by Waco O'Guin and Roger Black, Paradise PD season 1 debuted on Netflix in 2018. The series follows a small-town police department that are not adequately suited to handle the crime levels. Despite being bad at their jobs, Paradise PD returned for a second season in 2020.

The eight new episodes of Paradise PD put the cops back in the crosshairs. The second sees Dusty freed from jail and crime escalates in Paradise as a result. Meanwhile, the task force is divided over gender politics and Danny decides to kidnap a grown-up Disney sitcom star to create the ending the series never received. There's even an episode dedicated to the legalization of meth in Paradise so that Mayor Karen can be re-elected. But, in the seventh episode of Paradise PD season 2, the gang has a crossover with the cast of Brickleberry. Although this may seem odd to some, the connection the shows share is with their creators.

Paradise PD is not the first animated adult cop sitcom O'Guin and Black created together, as they are also the creative team behind Brickleberry. Debuting on Comedy Central in 2012, Brickleberry ran for three seasons and followed a group of park rangers who were in charge of protecting Fledgeling Brickleberry National Park. The series centered around Ethel Anderson's recruitment to the park and how she fits in with an already dysfunctional group of rangers. After Comedy Central canceled Brickleberry though, O'Guin and Black created a spiritual successor in Paradise PD, using a similar premise and many of the same voice actors, which made the crossover of the two properties a no-brainer - and it happened in season 2, episode 7.

The Brickleberry crossover in Paradise PD season 2 happens in episode 7, with the team leaving Paradise to hide from Fitz. Randall Crawford decides that the best hiding spot is Brickleberry National Park because his cousin Woody Johnson is the head ranger. Once Malloy, Brickleberry's talking bear cub, goes missing amid a threat of an animal poacher, the Paradise PD and Brickleberry teams work together to find him. They're divided up into oddball pairings that allow the crossover to delve into Randall and Woody's youth and hijinx between the other characters, with Malloy eventually found and the teams coming to like one another.

With the fun that this crossover provides fans of both Brickleberry and Paradise PD, it is unclear if these characters will cross paths again. The ending of the episode had members of Brickleberry say that it's unlikely anyone will ever see them again. Paradise PD has been renewed for a third season and now that the two shows are linked, the continued adventures of Paradise PD could pave the way for more Brickleberry crossovers in the future.
