The 32-year-old stars as the famous Baywatch babe in the upcoming Hulu series, which will center on Anderson and Tommy Lee's stormy marriage. Playing the role of Anderson's ex-husband and Mötley Crüe drummer is Sebastian Stan. The cast also includes Seth Rogen as Rand Gauthier, the man who stole the safe containing Anderson and Lee's notorious sex tape. Rogen is also credited as the miniseries' executive producer.
Anderson and Lee's romance is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships. They were two of the biggest names in the 1990s, with Anderson appearing on Playboy magazines and in Baywatch while Lee's rock band was a mainstay in the heavy metal scene. After a four-day courtship, Anderson and Lee got married in 1995. The couple divorced three years later after having two children, multiple altercations, and a viral sex scandal. Their wild and short-lived romance will be the main focus of Hulu's Pam & Tommy.
The eight-part miniseries is currently filming and new set photos taken by The Daily Mail show James' amazing transformation as Anderson. In the pictures, the Cinderella star ditches her natural brunette locks for Anderson's signature platinum blonde hair and appears all tanned while wearing the iconic Baywatch red swimsuit. James also seems to be wearing chest prosthetics to replicate Anderson's figure.
James' impressive transformation shows how dedicated she is to playing Anderson in Pam & Tommy. The Baywatch scene is undeniably an important part of the series as Anderson shot to fame for portraying the lifeguard CJ Parker from 1992 to 1997. Any biopic about her life would be remiss not to include the hit 90s show. Meanwhile, it isn't just James who is totally devoted to their roles in the highly anticipated Hulu series. The first set of images released for Pam & Tommy shows Stan as the spitting image of Lee. The actor encapsulates the rockstar's look, from his trademark eccentric pose down to his body tattoos and piercings.
James and Stan's casting initially raised eyebrows as many critics believed other actors could play the titular roles better. The stars certainly have big shoes to fill as Anderson and Lee are one of the most parodied pairs in pop culture. However, it's too soon to judge how James and Stan's performance will fare against the others that came before them ahead of Pam & Tommy's airing. But if the initial set photos reveal anything, it's that truly stunning transformations can be accomplished with the right amount of dedication and a little help from Hollywood's makeup masters.
