Andy Samberg's new romantic comedy, Palm Springs, has set an official release date in July on Hulu and in select drive-in movie theaters. The movie had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year and went on to set an all-time record for ticket sales at the festival. Neon and Hulu acquired the rights to the film not long after its premiere, and now, it has an official release date set for this summer.

Per Hulu and Neon, the movie "is set to premiere on Hulu and in select drive-ins nationwide on Friday, July 10." Starring Samberg and Cristin Milioti in the leading roles, the story centers on a man named Nyles (played by Samberg) and a woman named Sarah (played by Milioti) who "have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding," and find that "things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other."

The upcoming movie is the third to be produced by The Lonely Island trio, most notably known for their work on SNL, following the 2007 comedy Hot Rod and 2016's Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Even though those movies didn't fare well at the box office at the time, it didn't take long for them to develop a devoted fanbase post-theatrical release. Hopefully, Palm Springs can find more success at the box office than its predecessors.

Palm Springs also stars J.K. Simmons, Meredith Hagner, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, Peter Gallagher, and is directed by Max Barbakow and written by Andy Siara. Andy Samberg, Becky Sloviter, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, Dylan Sellers, and Chris Parker produced the film and Gabby Revilla Lugo serves as executive producer.
