Pacific Rim Uprising IMAX Posters & TV Spot Are Here to Save the World

advertising

Pacific Rim Uprising has released a new TV spot and IMAX posters highlighting the jaegers that are going to save humanity. The new film picks up 10 years after the original and follows a new generation of jaeger pilots, lead by Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), son of the legendary Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba). Jake is joined by his adopted sister Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), who fought alongside their father in the last war against the kaiju.

The new jaegers are big and the kaiju are even bigger in this sequel to the 2013 Guillermo del Toro original. A jaeger, from the German word for hunter, is you x1000. And according to the Jaeger Academy recruitment site, it allows the wearer to be their most heroic version possible. The jaeger suits represent the "pinnacle of human invention" and are the only thing standing between humanity and the kaiju threat.

The new trailer highlights the jaegers as well as their awesome weapons. There is Gypsy Avenger, named to honor Gypsy Danger from the original film, with its plasma blaster and gravity sling. Sleek Saber Athena comes next with its dual plasma blades. Then there's the big hulking Bracer Phoenix, the oldest in the fleet, with its deadly vortex cannon followed by Guardian Bravo and its Elec-16 Arc Whip. Walking wrecking ball Titan Redeemer is also seen in the trailer, but not called out by name. Watch them battle in the trailer below.

Empire Magazine also released the IMAX posters for Pacific Rim Uprising. They highlight 3 of the jaegers: Bracer Phoenix, Guardian Bravo, and of course Gypsy Avenger. The posters are dramatic and brightly colored. The Gypsy Avenger poster has a Japanese style illustration to honor the Asian influences of the film. The posters will be available with select IMAX showings of the film so fans should keep an eye out if they want one of their own. Plus, what better way to see such a big monsters vs. mechs movie like this than on a large screen. Check out the artwork below.

Pacific Rim Uprising stars Boyega, Kikuchi, along with returning Pacific Rim stars Burn Gorman and Charlie Day, Scott Eastwood, Adria Arjona, Tian Jiang, and newcomers Cailee Spaeny, Jules Reyes, and Liwen Shao. The film is directed by Daredevil season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight with a script by DeKnight, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder, and T.S. Nowlin.
