The full trailer and poster for Netflix's Pacific Rim: The Black animated series have arrived. Guillermo Del Toro teamed up with Legendary to launch the Pacific Rim franchise in 2013. The first film was a moderate success critically and financially, with the latter aided by its popularity overseas. Pacific Rim made more than $400 million worldwide, and over $100M came from China alone. Pacific Rim: Uprising's release in 2018 failed to top $300M globally, but China once again accounted for a big sum of the box office.

The Pacific Rim franchise's future on the big screen is unclear, but the monster/robot fighting world is still seen as a desirable place to create more stories. Netflix announced in 2018, several months after Pacific Rim: Uprising's release, that an anime series set in this universe was coming. It hasn't been until recently, though, that Netflix began marketing Pacific Rim: The Black. The show follows two siblings in an abandoned Australia overrun by Kaiju, who are trying to find their parents.

Following the release of a teaser trailer, Netflix has now dropped the official first trailer for Pacific Rim: The Black. The trailer is accompanied by a new teaser poster for the show, highlighting Taylor and Hayley standing in front of a new Kaiju. Pacific Rim: The Black season 1 consists of seven episodes, and all of them will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 4, 2021.

This new trailer for Pacific Rim: The Black showcases the anime style design it is replicating and gives potential viewers a better idea of what the story will be. Taylor and Hayley's lives searching the ruins of Australia for their parents is the focus, and that is how they'll come to find a Jaeger to use to fight any Kaiju they encounter. But, the trailer also teases their lives before going on this new journey. It also points out how the Pacific Rim world is still evolving, with new, small Kaijus featured. Plus, it helps establish what appears to be a big mystery for the show regarding the kid they keep seeing.

It was previously reported that Pacific Rim: The Black will last for at least two seasons, so whatever story viewers engage with next month should be the beginning of a longer adventure. While Guillermo Del Toro wasn't directly involved in writing or directing the series, there is still reason for optimism. And since there are no plans for Pacific Rim 3 to happen in the near future, Pacific Rim: The Black is the only content fans of the franchise should expect to see anytime soon.
