In Pacific Rim: The Black season 1, Brina and Ford Travis leave their children Hayley (Adlon) and Taylor (Worthy) at a survivor camp, Base 29. The couple vows to return before taking off in their jaeger, Hunter Vertigo; however, five years pass without any contact. When Hayley finds a working jaeger called the Atlas Destroyer, she receives training from the AI system, Loa. The siblings eventually plan a trip to Sydney, but their journey is interrupted by Shane — a manipulative and power-hungry man who wants control of the the last working jaeger in "The Black." Hayley and Taylor receive assistance from a 19-year-old survivor named Mei in the Netflix show, and also look after a mysterious boy who doesn't speak but clearly has supernatural powers.
