John Boyega is questioning when the first teaser trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising is going to release. The upcoming blockbuster movie is a sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 monster versus machine spectacle, Pacific Rim, which starred Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba as Jaegar pilots. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Hunnam won't be returning for the upcoming sequel, though his former co-stars Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, and Rinko Kikuchi are reprising their roles as Dr. Newt Geiszler, Dr. Hermann Gottlieb, and Mako Mori, respectively.

Daredevil season 1 showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight, took over directing duties for Pacific Rim: Uprising shortly after del Toro departed the project, despite having already conceived the story. Shortly thereafter, Universal Pictures hired Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly to pen a new draft of the screenplay alongside DeKnight. Principal photography finally commenced in November 2016 and concluded four months later in March of 2017. Now, audiences are awaiting the release of the movie's first teaser trailer, which should be coming sometime soon.

John Boyega has catapulted into global stardom thanks to his role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and that helped him land one of the leading roles in Pacific Rim: Uprising - playing Jake Pentecost - among other films, such as Kathryn Bigelow's politically-charged crime drama, Detroit. So far, audiences have already gotten trailers for Bigelow's Detroit as well as Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi; the only other Boyega-starring movie that people haven't seen a trailer for is the upcoming Pacific Rim sequel. Just like the fans, Boyega is wondering when the first trailer is going to release.

Update: DeKnight responded to Boyega's question on Twitter about when fans will get the first Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer, revealing it's in the works. Take a look:

Although we're still several months out from the Pacific Rim: Uprising's release, moviegoers have already been treated to the first teaser trailer for Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, which debuts one week prior to the upcoming Pacific Rim sequel. It makes fans wonder when Universal and Legendary Entertainment are going to show off the first glimpse of footage for the sequel, or at least another official image hyping up the impending release of the first trailer. So far, all audiences have to go on are a handful of set photos, the film's official logo, and one image showing Boyega's Pentecost.

Since production wrapped only three months ago, it makes sense that Universal would be holding off on showing any footage until they're well into the post-production phase, meaning they would want to wait until they have well-rendered CGI to show fans. We're already well into the summer blockbuster season, and since the studio hasn't released Pacific Rim: Uprising's first teaser yet, it seems likely that they are either holding off until San Diego Comic-Con next month or are waiting for another major release towards the end of the season, such as Detroit.
