The third season of Ozark was recently placed onto Netflix and has been a massive success yet again. While a fourth season of the show has yet to be officially confirmed, things ended very openly for more episodes of the series to come. There are tons of different avenues that the show could go down due to the way the season finished and that is what really makes the prospect of a fourth season very exciting. With so many vibrant and detailed characters and a story that is very much unfinished, it would be a shame to leave things now.

Let's take a look ahead to the future of the show, revealing 10 things that should happen during the fourth season of the Netflix drama.

Increase The Scale

This is something that the latest season of the show started to do but is where a fourth season could really expand upon. So far everything has been firmly focused within the Ozarks while knowing that there was much more going on behind the scenes.

With the major drug war taking place outside of the Byrde's little bubble, it would be exciting to see the show really follow up on that. Showcasing more of the scale of operation that the family is involved in, perhaps giving them new responsibilities to allow them to still be linked.

Ruth Hunts Down Nelson

One of the big moments that came from season three was the death of Wendy's brother, Ben. He was hunted down by the cartel's hitman, Nelson after he spilt the beans about what Helen really does to her daughter. While he might be gone, the woman that he loved is left behind.

The Langmore's aren't people to be messed with, as has been proven and Ruth is well aware of who Nelson is and what he is capable of. However, it would be a very interesting storyline to see her basically hunt him down and try to gain revenge for the murder.

Confirm Ben's Status

Speaking of Ben's death, this is a plot that has been a major talking point with fans online as many believe there's a good chance he isn't actually dead. There are many theories online that Marty and Wendy might have faked Ben's death and that he had actually escaped.

Technically, he is never shown getting killed, and while a body is shown being burnt, it never actually shows that it is Ben himself. While there's still a good chance he is dead, the show should either confirm that or go with him being alive, which could open up tons of storylines within itself.

Siblings Charlotte and Jonah guard the $50 million belonging to the cartel in Ozark

Jonah and Charlotte Byrde have always played big roles within the series, but it has mainly been seeing them react to the insane criminal activity of their parents. They've both had varied reactions at times but are now firmly on board with what the family does, and they have tried to help out a little bit throughout.

However, now is the time to really throw them in at the deep end and give them some major responsibilities. With Ruth seemingly gone, an opening has cleared for more help and, with both of them having proved themselves in the past, it would be great to see them really thrive.

Wendy & Marty Work Together

Throughout Ozark, it has been clear that Wendy and Marty Byrde are not always on the same page. In fact, if anything, they are very rarely on the same page. They have backstabbed each other countless times and while it has worked out well in the end, audiences also enjoy seeing them work together.

When they get their heads together, Wendy and Marty are a much stronger threat. While it is expected to see them fall out and disagree at times, it is crucial the show doesn't go too far down that storyline as it will only make fans hate one of the two lead roles.

Another Love Angle

The unexpected romance between Ruth and Ben in the third season was something that really did benefit the show. Seeing them together and having that dynamic was something that really brought a new dynamic to the series and that is something that has now been taken away.

Having characters really looking out for each other was something that suited such a dark show, bringing a little joy to the episodes. Whether it be in the form of new characters joining in or some existing ones coming together, adding a new romance would be fantastic.

Ozark War

So far, everything in Ozark has been fairly peaceful considering how many people hate each other and how much illegal activity happens. While there have been deaths sporadically, there hasn't been an all-out war between all the major parties involved.

That is something that should change in the next season as it would add a brand new energy to the series. Rather than showcasing all the dealings and politics that are involved with operating the businesses, it would be good to see the consequences as well.

More FBI Presence

The show has always had the FBI snooping around, mainly working in the shadows and that was very much the case with the third season of the show. They were always there, investigating the finances at the casino, offering Marty a deal, but they didn't get too deeply involved in the main plot.

That is something that should change, as seeing the FBI start to get directly involved as one of the major plots of the season would be fantastic. Putting major pressure on the Byrde's while also going against the cartel would add huge tension.

Trying To Break From The Cartel

The very end of Ozark's third season sees Omar Navarro make a major decision to kill Helen Pierce and choose the Byrde family to work with. He embraces them as they're covered in blood and the show ends, so it is clear that a fourth season would see them really involved with the cartel.

That isn't a setting that the Byrde family belongs in, simply because they aren't powerful enough to operate in control. Therefore it would be great to see a storyline where they attempt to get out of the situation, whether by killing Omar or simply going on the run.

Darlene Becomes The Main Threat

cast of Ozark

Darlene Snell is an incredibly interesting character who has shown glimpses of exactly what she's capable of throughout the show. However, while she has been a main character who has caused problems for the Byrde's, she hasn't quite taken control as the main threat of the series yet.

However, throughout season three she was putting pieces together to clearly prepare for becoming that. With both Ruth and Wyatt now working by her side, she is growing her power and with the police in her pocket, she is well-positioned to cause some serious problems to the Byrde casino business.
