A new trailer reveals that part one of the fourth and final season of Netflix's Ozark will premiere next January. Ozark first hit Netflix back in 2017 and tells the story of Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), a skilled money-launderer who moves his family to the Ozarks to clean a drug cartel's dirty cash. The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning show has since gained a loyal following. It has proven to be one of the streaming service's most popular and critically well-received original series. Many praise the tone, writing, and stellar performances from Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner.

The show's third season ended with a surprise death and an important new revelation that will propel the Byrde family in even deeper with Omar Navarro, the leader of the ruthless Navarro Cartel. Netflix previously confirmed that the show would return for a 14-episode fourth season, split into two parts. Season 3 premiered back in March 2020, meaning audiences have been waiting for over a year and a half to find out what is in store for the Byrde family.

A new trailer, released by the official Netflix Twitter account with the caption: "there's no turning back now," finally reveals that the first part of Ozark season 4 will premier on January 21, 2022. That means there are just over three more months until the initial seven episodes of season 4. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't indicate when part two will be released, although it is also expected to hit Netflix at some point in 2022.

Audiences have already waited 19-or-so months since the end of season 3, so another three isn't too tall of an order. Compared to fans of Stranger Things, for example, which premiered its third season back in July of 2019 and currently has no known release for its fourth season aside from some point in 2022, Ozark fans are faring decidedly better. With the end of Ozark season 3 suggesting that the Byrde family will have to go deeper into their life of crime before they have any hope of getting out, season four is sure to contain some big reveals – and likely some even bigger deaths.

Due to Netflix's release strategy of dropping all episodes of a season all at once, many fans consume the episodes within days. While many enjoy the binge-able nature of Netflix shows, there is an argument to be made that a staggered, weekly release would help to alleviate the prolonged feelings of downtime between seasons for viewers. The long periods of waiting between seasons sometimes result in forgotten plot threads and storylines when shows eventually return. When it comes to Ozark, the beginning of the end for the Byrde family is right around the corner, set to hit Netflix on January 21st, 2022.
