English actress Maisie Williams stars in the new horror thriller The Owners, so fans are naturally curious about the storyline and release date information. Based on Hermann & Yves H.'s graphic novel, the movie adaptation was directed by French filmmaker Julius Berg, who is perhaps best known for directing the French Netflix miniseries, La forêt.

For nearly a decade, Williams portrayed the young warrior Arya Stark on Game of Thrones. She earned a huge worldwide following due to the outcast nature of her character, and also because of her naturalistic performance that resonated with viewers. For example, Arya doesn't pursue a legacy like her siblings Jon and Sansa, nor does she have metaphysical powers like younger brother Bran. Instead, Arya values her immediate wants and needs, a mentality that made the character a fan favorite during the show's run.

The Owners' trailer dropped in August 2020, prompting speculation about the release date as the COVID-19 crisis continues to delay theatrical releases. The film isn't one of the year's most-hyped horror productions, so it remains under-the-radar when compared to trending titles like The Beach House, Host, and Relic. Here's everything we know about The Owners.

The Owners Cast

Williams stars as Mary, a young woman who's part of a plan to steal money from an empty house. Aside from Game of Thrones, Williams has starred in dark dramas such as The FallingMary Shelley, and is a star of the upcoming The New Mutants. For The Owners, she'll have a chance to shine in the main role.

The Owners also features Sylvester McCoy as Dr. Huggins. In pop culture, the Scottish actor is best known for portraying Radagast in The Hobbit movie franchise. He also portrayed the Doctor in Doctor Who from 1987 to 1989. The Owners' supporting cast includes the acclaimed actress Rita Tushingham as Ellen Huggins. She portrayed The Girl in the 1965 classic Doctor Zhivago, and won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Jo in the 1961 film, A Taste of Honey.

Aside from the main players, The Owners supporting cast includes Jake Curran (Maze Runner: The Death Cure) as Gaz, Ian Kenny (Solo: A Star Wars Story) as Nathan, Andrew Ellis (This Is England) as Terry, and Stacha Hicks (David Brent: Life on the Road) as Jean.

The Owners Story

The Owners Movie

The Owners appears to follow the usual tropes of home invasion films. What makes the narrative unique, however, is that the older victims push back against the young intruders. The character Nathan seems motivated by familial reasons, as he needs money to support a child. As Mary, Williams appears to portray a slightly naive character, one who will seemingly be pushed to the limits, which will allow for a big character arc transformation.

The Owners Release Date

The Owners Movie

The Owners is scheduled to release on September 4, 2020 via RLJE Films. Assuming that the film is distributed digitally, the opening weekend competition in early September will be Still Here (a crime thriller starring Zazie Beetz) and Feels Good Man (a documentary about artist Matt Furie, creator of the comic character Pepe the Frog).
